There was plenty of land on the old prison site, on which to build new buildings. The real issue was greedy developers that coveted that very valuable land. In Utah money is king unlike any other state. Read between the lines here.

They were told about this before the final decisions were made. Politicians who are in real estate and benefit from the move to the swamp. Follow the money especially of the politicians that were on the committee.

That calculates to just about half of a week. Work a week get a week off (including sleep). They must go into work exhausted. Not safe for folks who are drowsy operating mace and guns and the like.

At some point while building the facility I'm sure they git tore up by mosquitos. I'm sure they shrugged the problem away an continued building. Ignorance played a big part in this

The reason it’s failing is because the people who wanted this prison an designed it probably never worked as a correctional officer. And also never took the consideration of listening to the guards on how this facility should have been. Happens in many correctional facilities sadly.

It happen in the building of any facility and the development of many products. They only consult with the people who use the Facility/Product early on. All final decisions are decided by the Suits who have No Clue whats what.

All the state was worried about was the land the old prison was on and more devolvement. Then build the new one on land that no one else wanted, because swamp land.

that swamp is critical pronghorn, waterfowl habitat. It was once huntable public land. It is also sinking, and causing underground watershed issues. it must be continuously sump pumped, causing water to move towards the prison, picking up heavy metals, and toxins from the old dumps, and the tailings pond.

Regardless if you're an inmate or a guard, you deserve a safe and secure environment. These folks are getting neither, even after so much taxpayer money has been spent. There will be no "easy" or cheap fix for a problem that should've been foreseen and resolved long before the gates were opened for new residents.
