For the problem you're having with shading on the peak and by the door try this. In Blender, select object, edit mode, Mesh, Normals, reset vectors. Not exactly sure what this does but it clears up most shading issues for me.

It sure sounds like it would work. I'll have to check blender in a bit, but I do know that I tried just about every "normal" option there is, LOL. I think recalculate normals is what I was hanging my hat on and that didn't work. Reset vectors doesn't sound familiar so I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one! Thanks for the heads up!

Hi! Thanks for the video. Why don't you use Blender for texturing?
@bauerbrown8 күн бұрын
I do sometimes and have a few videos on it, but Substance Painter and InstaMat are far superior (and easier) for texturing. Blender could never come close, especially to SP since it works seamlessly with Substance Designer and Substance Sampler, which is a deadly combo IMO.

High Bauer, isn't it better to triangulate the building before exporting it to substance painter? The editor does triangulate everything and can mesh things up. In blender you have a triangulate modifier. If you check the box keep normals in that modifier it will keep all like it is and it triangulates way better than te editor. I also think it would take away the shading issues you have in substance on some parts. It's a tip i have seen in some "blender bro's" tutorials for game assets.

It might be better, I just always took it for granted that the editor will triangulate anyhow. As long the geometry count is acceptable I never worried if the editor did a good job. Now with Substance Painter, perhaps that could make a difference? I'll have to try it out. I never triangulate in case I need to go back and make modifications, it's just easier. Perhaps you're on to something though, I'll give it a try.

@@bauerbrown triangulation sometimes can deform your model on simple models it willn't happen that fast but i have seen it happen on more advanced models like weapons,airships etcetera. In blender you have the keep normal checkbox to avoid that. So my opinion it's always better to do it in blender. You can always make a duplicate in blender and triangulate that for substance, that way you always have one clean that you stilll can make changes on.

@@John-qe8zt I usually do keep a backup (if I remember) because crazy unexpected things tend to happen to me and it's always better safe than sorry. I suppose I just never put that much that into triangulating, but I'll be more aware of it now. I'll certainly test it out to see what kind of difference it makes.

I’m currently trying to get familiar with creating my own foliage. Have you got any videos on this topic?
@bauerbrown7 күн бұрын
Creating your own, like from scratch? Building the models, texturing, etc? That's something I haven't attempted so no clue on where to even start with that, however I would love to learn how!

@ na basically just making the planes on blender then adding grass textures ive been successful so far but when adding fruitshader/billboard the texture goes invisible.

@@CMoDZ3D Try adding an additional UV map in Blender. It doesn't have to be anything special, just an additional map.

@@CMoDZ3D Maybe? I also have no clue. From what I understand of vertex weights I wouldn't think it applied to foliage, but then I really don't know.

No worries. I have a wallet address that I'll provide - you can transfer everything there and I'll take care of the Binance thing for you. It can be tricky, but I got you!!
