From all the WFH studies I have read about over quite a few years, they have shown consistently that productivity actually increases, when compared to colleagues working from the office and, for many, dealing with the daily commuting and expense issues. I'd guess that the vast majority of people communing to large corporate sites each day are not customer facing and so do not actually need to be there. But, the senior boardroom folks, having signed long leases on shiny concrete and glass prestigious city based sites need everybody there to justify those astronomical lease costs and to prop up the financial sector, who are heavily invested in the (already failing) commercial real estate sector!

As if there is an argument, there is no way in the world that working from home is as productive as being at the workplace, it's already become an urban myth, your head is just not in the correct place.

It isn't morally anything!! Why have company bosses suddenly decided to tell other bosses how to run their company. Its a company decision. We don't have tech bosses telling Rod Stewart how to be a more efficient plumber.

I have a disability and am still recovering from a major surgery done near the end of last year. Working from home has been a lifesaver for me as it allows me to not only continue earning an income to ensure that I can survive and feed myself without relying on others' help, but it also saves me the hassle of spending hours in traffic every morning and evening especially when it is now very difficult for me to do so in light of my health and condition. Moreover, I am able to concentrate and be more productive without the extra noise from the office and outside environment.

Elon just wants us all to have to keep commuting and buying his cars. I used to spend about 25 hours a week commuting into London and spending thousands a year on train tickets. That's time and money I now have back. Working from home has made all of our employees far happier, better off financially, more time to ourselves, it's better for the environment and ultimately I'm a much more productive employee. Instead of catching the train I can go and walk the dog before work. The business itself has also saved about 120k a year on not paying for an office. We meet up every three months for lunch and drinks and to have an in person chat. Works great for us. There will always be people who want to fight progress when it's not in their self interest. Sad day for them because work from home is here to stay so get used to it.

Charlie is WRONG!! I now mainly work from home. I have never been so productive and I have never earned so much money. I also have a fantastic work life balance which actually makes me a more productive worker. I'm not distracted by other colleagues wanting a chat, argument or a gossip! I also do not miss the commute. Only downside is we have had to loose a bedroom to convert into an office. I have set this up really well so I can do my job as best as I can. Although you wouldn't believe it looking at his face Charlie is a dinosaur. He needs to get with modern times.

I'm strongly in favour of people having freedom to choose. Working from home does definitely not work for me. Apart from the fact my job role required me to be site based, I need the interaction and contact with work colleagues to help maintain my mental health. For me Teams calls does not substitute.
