Working in a home office with Anklyosing Spondylitis

Hi all. In this video I am sharing some tips on how I am adjusting to working in my home office versus my old job.

Did anyone spot the ultrasound on my bulletin board? I'm going to be a Grammy at the end of April.

I was just diagnosed with this. I have never heard of it before and still kind of in shock. I stumbled across your page and I am a new subscriber. Hopefully I can learn some things from your journey and your story. Unfortunately I don’t have a very good support system so I’m kind of on my own with this journey. This is scary and uncertain for me. But I’m finally glad that I have a diagnosis after seeing numerous doctors for years. I’ll be looking forward to hear upcoming contact moving forward. Welcome Kristie. Feel free to reach out with any questions you have as time goes along. The positive thing about getting diagnosed is that treatment slows the progression of the disease. I was shocked as well when I was first told. Give yourself time to digest the diagnosis and remember it's not the end of your life as you know it. I still live a very fulfilled life. Focus on what you can do and not what you can't, find ways around roadblocks , find things that interest you to do when there are times that you need to just sit down and relax because your body is sore or exhausted. I don't have any family here in Canada other than my children. I usually minimize how I'm feeling to my kids because I don't want them to worry all the time. I rely on a few close friends but mostly on myself. I am not a big fan of some of the online forums because I feel like people just focus too much on the negative and that can put you into a downward spiral. However you have to make up your own mind on those things

Hello - you were wearing a neck brace in the video featured on the Amgen site. Do you wear that for relief from neck pain and/or neck fatigue? If so, can you please share the brand? I am looking for something like that for occasional use. Tia!

Hi Lisa. The big cervical collar I wear is called the Miami J model and it is made by a company called OSSUR. I use that when the pain is really awful and I put my neck into traction. Other days when the pain isn't that bad I wear a soft cervical collar that I purchased on Amazon and I think there are many different kinds. The soft one is definitely not as useful but it is more comfortable and at least gets you to stop moving your neck and directions i shouldn't
