UK citizen here who had an interview for a teaching assistant role in Guernsey. They were paying less than what I made in Bradford. The cost of food is at least 1.5 times higher, and there's no NHS, so the recruiter told me to "just pay for private health insurance" at nearly £100 a month, despite still being subject to uk tax deductions, etc...

Salaries are generally higher but so are costs since most goods are imported and property costs are similar to London. Also there is no National Health Service. Private insurance is essential. My daughter lives there and needs to see GP from time to time; each visit costs nearly £50.

I want to live and work in Guernsey.

Don't bother unless you are rich, you are taxed a lot for everything and the ferry service is unreliable and many people are leaving now as it's too expensive to live here.

I’m a retired R.N. Here in Pennsylvania . I work a light duty desk job now. Things in US have gotten so bad with the gun violence and corrupt republican lawmakers , I can’t see a good future here in US for young people . I have a son and grandson . I dream of living in Europe. The lifestyle is more sane . I’ve been to Ireland and Italy and see that each Village and town holds tightly to their sense of community. Our education secretary under trump is diverting public ed funds to private educational enterprises . My son is a cook, probably always a need for cooks , huh ? What are the pre-requisites to move there ? I have a Bachelor’s degree from Penn Stare University .
