I had no idea sheep were so affectionate. How lovely to learn this. Thank you!

They really are very affectionate, it’s lovely. They also removed individuals which is great as they become friends with so many people :-)

Hi Jess. I've just hit the upload button on the latest video. It should go live in the next 3 hours - slow internet connection :-) I hope you enjoy the other videos in the mean time. Also if you've not watched our journey across Scotland video - when you do Sorry for the poor sound quality it was one of those where everything went wrong.

Two things to note. Your presenting style is absolutely perfect and been looking forward to this next one after your impressive start.. The other thing I just can't wait to visit Tiree this September . Something has drawn me there and I hope it will be the first of many visits

Hi and thanks for the amazing support it makes our adventure into the unknown of KZbin worth it. It's amazing that you are going to head over to Tiree in September, I hope you love this little Scottish island as much as we do. We'll keep doing our best to keep the your inspiration alive and growing between then and now. If you have any video ideas please feel free and let us know. Have an awesome day.

@@SimpleLifeScotland There is so much potential interest in anything to do with your workings with your sheep, general welfare, shearing, using the wool in your hats, their characters. Then you have the Tiree music festival, the surfing, your photography activities, the ferry link, the postie ( I was one for 30 years) , the community in general, doctor service and even something about tourism would make an excellent short video Have a great year

Have you considered learning Scots Gaelic? You already know one Gaelic word - beinn for 'mountain' - shortened to Ben for the place you two are going to be walking. Sabhal Mor Ostaig on Skye is the Scots Gaelic college and even if you didn't want to pay for one of their courses, they might point you to other ways to learn the language. I fell in love with Scots Gaelic through its music - did my 'O' grade and studied for Higher but didn't pass the exam (my teacher wanted me to appeal but I didn't). I was told that Coll, especially, has a lot of Gaelic but I would suspect it is on most of the Hebrides. Just a thought. 🤔

I’d love to know more about the Pictish culture and the following Nordic history that seems to have been forgot. I found a great map that shows the early cultures in this area before it was invaded by the Irish celt cultures. It even shows pre-Celt Britons on the west coast isles. This area has such a rich and varied history. With many cultures making the islands home. I’m no historian so it will take lots of looking into to understand which languages have been spoken here pre Celt and English speakers leaving their foot prints. Wouldn’t it be great if they found a way to also revive Pictish, accident Viking and accent Briton languages, all have been part of the amazingly rich language history of this area. A great way to bring a real vibrancy back and making history more immediate.

I love that your sheep all have names and have personalities distinct from each other. So was there a reason to walk up the Ben ? This is exactly the sort of place I'd love to move to.
@SimpleLifeScotland Жыл бұрын
Hi Lesley. The sheep are so amazing and completely life changing in so many ways :-). Yes there was indeed a reason for walking up the Ben. It’s a big project so can’t reveal anything until it’s complete. But as soon as it is I’ll be sure to let you know :-). Consistency producing vlogs as been hard but I hope by the New Year it should be easier for me to publish much more regularly. Thanks so much for working your way through the vlogs and joining in on the crazy adventure :-)

As I watched this, I was reminded of John 10:14 - "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep and am known by My own." The love you showed for them individually brought a smile to my face.

The way the sheep ask for attention reminds me of how my cat asks for rubs. She can be persistent, sometimes even annoying, when she wants love, but she is sweet.

Hey, found the channel by chance as we are travelling to Coll and Tiree for a few days, end of June. A really refreshing channel, very well presented! I’m sure I saw in a previous video ( yes I should watch again ! ) the wool you harvest goes towards making hats ? Q. How do I get one ? ( Hat not a sheep ) :) Keep up the good work and the dream alive.
@SimpleLifeScotland2 жыл бұрын
Hi Colin thank you so much for watching the channel as well as the kind and positive words. We really appreciate it. Yes once a year our little flock of orphan sheep must have a haircut - to make them comfortable in the hotter summer weather - And, the resulting fleeces are used by us to hand spin the wool and then hand-make woolly hats. You can find out more about the flock and woolly hats at www.welan-tiree.com Thanks again for the support and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Hello, this is the 2nd video ive watched of yours after my wife forwarded it to me and mentioned the book Blink which you mention, which she has duely ordered and we both look forward to reading it. I would be interested to know what process you use for selling your photography? And also, what other sources of revenue do you have apart from the wooly hat company. It's probably one of the biggest areas that hold us back from pursuing a similar ambition is making sure there is enough to live on and pay the bills. I take my hat off to you both and wish you every success and happiness x
