@@beautyandthebudget3642 Good point. I think what the person meant was that, depending on how far North you are, during mid-summer the days can be up to 19 hours long for example, in Lerwick town on Shetland Islands, Scotland. As a comparison, Fairbanks in central Alaska USA, is further North so during mid-Summer day is 22 hours with just 2 hours of "night". (Obviously things are reversed in Winter. So one gets a 2 hour day and 22 hour night, in mid-winter in Fairbanks Alaska say.). Solar Panels, slanted at approx the correct angle, can still generate electricity during some cloudy weather, and during snowy weather especially when the Sky is clear and blue. Their efficiency increases with cold, as long as they have light falling on them. Scottish Island dwellers often use wind generators as they can expect power from them about 60% of the time, day and night, Winter and Summer.. With advances in more affordable Solar and Wind generators, folks who can afford to install such infrastructure straight off, can have a comfortable life even on remote islands. One wind generator will supply some heating and extra Winter lighting to even a large "family sized" greenhouse for example.

Something which the modern day politician seems to do with ease. If they want to help increase the populations of our islands then they should be doing all they can to encourage young couples to be able to set up a home, live their lives in as little debt as possible and start their own children. Kinda like the old fashioned way. Fund affordable logistics in order to get goods into the islands to minimise increased costs. So many things that they should be doing to help islands survive but they don't. If want to move to an island then fund it yourself, like what everyone else has done up to now.

This would be one way to deal with abandoned buildings. 50k is more than for the frugal to fix up a place. fantastic if they would! it would certainly deal with the homelessness aspect and give peeps a foot on the property ladder. Heck if you as cheeky as I, find out if you got royal ancestry. As there might be a royal covenant in Magna Carta that could be exploited. The royals are meant to look after their own. Sure there unlikely things out there and doubt many would reach accent the throne. As most people can in the Anglo sphere have at least one royal connection. It might be possible to claim the ancient rites of shelter. I suspect it might be possible? but would have little to no clue how to go about it. With loads of unclaimed land, derelict and abandoned properties. it must be possible. Believe the the line is, i here by give land to my heirs and future generation. Acknowledging the fact not all royal patronage has legitimate origins. As many kings were notorious for having mistresses. It was reckoning most people born after 1945 would be related. Edward the 3rd is commonly mentioned. Some British can trace the ancestry back to the house of Wessex. So might be even able to claim on Saxon laws. Weregeld perhaps? It would also have implications with regards to council tax. As royal law would take president. Would definitely be nice to have 50k in the bank. Be even nicer if the royals took heart and bailed everyone out of this mess. Helping out their cousins. As you do a good job here. Might be funny to find out? When I did my homework. it would seam I would connect in through Baldwin 2nd of Jerusalem and his daughter. One occasion I can say thanks mum! Though I can’t tell much about my dads side but if the Stokes have anything to do with it? Norwegian royalty circa 960. Dreux the Norman is an ancestor that links Me in to this. With the de mello being the key link. So I have to wonder how many brits could do this? I know a few people that would love a secluded spot. Would love a to be king on a island. Basically if the kings ever bequeath the land to his heirs and Decedents then. The country and prehaps the whole of the United Kingdom itself belong to everyone. The queen in this instance wouldn’t be sole owner. But a stake holder. So if history is rediculous? Then I question your credentials? If some are aware of exactly how many people thought themselves a common man only to find they were member of the aristocracy. Mathew pinsent, Danny dyer, Courtney cox. To name but a few. 1.3 billion in the Anglosphere alone. It normally comes with privileges. If I was to argue it further? everyone was defrauded once they came of age. So no it not ridiculous, when there is a debt of honour yet to be bestowed. Heck it means many in Britain are related by rights to Odin. To be a king you had to demonstrate your were some how godly. It might even be the job of the king to ensure the faithful are rewarded. Maybe another purpose for Bona vicantia? to ensure no one goes homeless. I’d say my enquiring mind in essence is trying to be practical.

@@hugofitzwilliam8197 oh you think I’m American? Nope definitely European. Northern European mainly. I did a lot of digging in to my own backgrounds I went way back. If your educated? You know your surname has some standing? Fits William put you in with the normans. England is the inheritance. For most of my kith and kin. By extension most of the United Kingdom is as well. It not nonsense it just honouring what has been. I wonder if you mis-spoke? No damned way I’m American not with the aristocratic links. Capt James Bentleys royalist army. Captain of horse. Hand chooses by the king himself. Which is funny because they have links to Wessex and Mercia going way back. Daughters of Wessex features prominently. It get better as a feeder branch takes us back to Sweden and Denmark. House of munso. Robert d’ouilly was the link. Because of his marriage to a de wallingford I’d been doing my homework. As for my dad side his mam was a stokes that goes back to the Kingdom of Norway and the Hebrides. I know the Hayman’s played a prominent part in history. On multiple occasions. If I did my homework right every Christian prayer end saying something simmer? Honestly a story there! The men that build enclosures. Then men that built Eden. Yep if the source are true? So not nonsense? Just to seek and ye shall find? Heck with Roman emperors, Welsh princes, Irish kings. House of savoy. It a pedigree like no other? Lands are bequeathed to all descendants. The inheritances is the dirt. Sorry if I put your nose out of joint? No man not even s king can deny you this. It very much Shakespeare Henry v . Yours today, mine tomorrow. Has been like this for Everyone born since 1945.. there are billions of us out there. My old vike group used to call me Genghis for some strange reason? But that like likely to be on my fathers side? If that mongol turns up? Really needs to know your past if you have a slightest chance of a future? William the conqueror started the process of distributing assets. As far as I know that practice is unchanged to this very day? As for being semi literate? Never got past gcse English. Did basic instead. But really should be speaking a mixed younger. As it suit the background better. If you going to drop insults? Make sure to clean your backside first? It 7k each time? It seems like You don’t mind helping a distant cousin out? Really could deal with the help? I digress. I had one change since I went to school. I can do my homework a lot better. It not nonsense birthrights be what they are. It might need someone to hold a thing? A blot? Or summon someone of interest? In this instance I think your team might cry own goal in your direction? I can’t help but smirk. It ok, we all put our boot in it every once in a while. I just happened to flyte like the best of them? Yep it funny you think I’m American. Frankly don’t give a hoot what you think I am? Just happened to know better.

@@jasonhaymanonthedrawingboard As you are semi-illiterate, I thought you were American but thanks for proving you are an ex SEN pupil with your reply. I lost count of the grammatical and spelling howlers in your obviously mentally unhealthy, sadly deluded and grossly inappropriately patronising rant. You're also such a pathetic, desperate and floundering ignoramus, you post your opinion assuming I know about my ancestors as fact. You are, of course, 100% wrong and put YOUR 'boot in it'. Try not to psychologically project, you laughable Dunning-Krugers case.

Just curious .... but what type of employment would be present? Say I got a plot and a cabin with my 50k, but I am still of working age and would need to work. I am willing to contribute if I come, but what work would be available to a man say, in his early 40s?
