@@cdavid2200 Humanity has survived worse things. It might take some time, but theatre will be back. Maybe it will change for the better as well.

If you’re worried about theatre surviving as an art form, make it easily accessible.

"I don't know if theatre can survive through technology" WHAT STORY ARE YOU TELLING!?! It's an *ooold* song, it's an *old* tale. How maybe generations of technological innovation has this method of storytelling survived through? Books didn't kill theatre, radio didn't kill theatre, vhs and tv didn't kill theatre. The art of storytelling is as ancient as culture itself.

If there's anything killing theatre it's the high prices they are putting in place

this man is the breed that is gonna kill theater as an art form if they don't stop treating it as something so idealistic and pristine, let it grow and evolved with the times and technology. the bare core of it is never gonna get lost because at the end of the day is human nature to tell stories, share knowledge or reminisce of past ways through creative vessels. as a young artist I am offend, you want more people in the theater?? make it more accessible how about that ps I fucking love hadestown it's the only thing I've been listening *on spotify* this last month (I'm from buenos aires and can't fucking afford to go to London/NYC to watch it live)

honestly, if technology wasn't what it is now, I probably wouldn't know about Hadestown. I'm thankful technology allows me to experience it :)

So wonderful to get to see a little bit of what the casebook class saw, a peek into the creative process and the early days of full-length, off-Broadway Hadestown! I agree with what other comments have said btw - there's definitely hope for the future of theater in the U.S., and Hadestown is exactly the kind of show that will help, because it dares to go beyond "just" a love story, masterfully intertwining spiritual, existential, and political themes that deeply resonate. Of course, smaller-scale and more experimental theater projects are doing similar work around the country and world. It's mostly the extremely-high-ticket-price, rarified, elitist higher echelons of the theater world that are at risk of fading away if they fail to become more accessible.
