I've built several and they don't handle like a knife but pivot end to end with a rocking motion super great for dicing long or small veggies and mushrooms Great project

History information. Ulu were built in North America in the Great lakes area from copper and were the first knives built " anywhere built from metal". . Yes they were the first metal knives in the world ! They were built by Americans! They were built of pure copper. You did an amazing job of shaping it by forging work once again Eric. I don't copy the original Alaska Ulu mine are longer and not so curved as it's also serving as a spatula for quickly picking up my dice veggies. Thin blades for less tears with onions. Thanks

Great profile, and that damascus came out really good! I did an ulu for a customer in June and they’re pretty neat blades. Second one I ever made, actually not too different from yours. I forged it from a 3”x4”x1/8” piece of 80CrV2 and did a distal taper all the way from the handle to the edge, with only a slight curve to the blade. Forge finish with OD G10 and micarta pins. Looks really cool.
