This is so inspiring!! I was thinking of doing the wwoof (only on farms) program in Iceland and thought I’d look up peoples experiences doing similar. Your experience and everything you got out of volunteering has definitely motivated me, thanks

You made such a valid point people travel to take insta pics and wear outfits. I travel solo because when I travel I want to live the way the people that live there do. I eat where the locals eat I do a lot of walking because that's the way I can find out of the way places and that is not understood by the people I know. They want to hang at the hotel pool and eat at fancy restaurants I just do see travelling for that. I so want to do this I just have to figure out what to do with my pup. Thanx for making me feel like I'm n the right track.

Hey there! Happy the video helped! My work was unpaid in exchange for a place to stay, I’m sure there’s other opportunities that are paid if that’s what you’re looking for

Hi! It is the same experience I'm looking for. Is it possible to know the name of your host on workaway site? :)
@torithetraveler86815 ай бұрын
This was back in 2019 so I’m not sure if they’re still on the site. I highly recommend signing up and checking out available hosts!

Hi Erica! I had done some weeding / cut the lawn when I was growing up but no professional experience! My host family showed me where and how they liked things done so I just followed their instruction (:

Could you get by in Iceland being vegetarian? I know they eat a lot of meat but I would probably feel queezy if I ate meat
@torithetraveler86813 жыл бұрын
Johnny, I think you definitely could get by being vegetarian. While there is a lot of meat based meals there are also lots of fruits and vegetables grown in Iceland. The main reason why I chose to eat meat on my trip was because I was staying with a host family and wanted to be apart of their culture, so I didn't restrict my diet.
