honestly in terms of working out you shouldn’t rely on motivation because it comes and goes. (and thats why people aren’t consistent.) I think a lot of people mistake motivation and discipline for being similar the same thing. Like bm said there can be days, weeks, or even months where you don’t have motivation. You literally just have to force yourself to do it. what helped is seeing the things that I do for myself as a form of self-respect. being consistent on my word with working out or skin care or just taking care of myself in general is self-respect and how I treat myself well.💗
@jo.e87 ай бұрын
I applaud how disciplined the both of you are with working out and how you guys do it for health and not to just look good. I also admire how long you’ve been friends! Two decades is crazy!

I didn’t start working out until I turned 36 lol I was so against the gym, so convinced that it wasn’t for me that it took having babies and trying to keep up with them to finally get me there. And I love it!! I go three times a week and trying to find time to go more. I feel stronger and more energetic than I ever have. I get such a rush of accomplishment when I learn new lifts or can complete a hard set. It’s incredible. It’s never too late!! Just get out there! I meet up with a trainer once every two months. They do an evaluation and give me a circuit. It’s a great way to stay motivated but keep it affordable. Stay strong yall ❤

Love this topic with BM! Such a great topic with a great guest! I guess we are all the same where when we are twenties, we workout just to look good but on our thirties, we workout just to be healthy and to be sane. I guess its how it is no matter where we are 😅 another thing is I really love to see how you have this healthy friendship with alot of your guy friend, and it seems like most of your guy friend is protective and a gentleman too. I admire that! As always, truly great episode! Cant wait for the next episode already! Love ya! ❤

(1) Thanks, guys, for another interesting and informative episode. Matthew is a very well-spoken guest. (2) You're so right about the importance of starting a workout routine early. I wish I had started DECADES earlier than I did. (3) And yes, the importance of diet cannot be stated strongly enough. You truly ARE what you eat! (4) Just one complaint about this episode: I would've liked to have heard some of Matthew's stories about Joan in junior high! 😂😘

I'm 35 and I haven't been constant with working out but since last yeat I started yoga/pilates and it really felt different. I started doing it every morning since January and omg, never felt so motivated to never stop. I saw quicker changes that when i just use dumbbells or cardio. I really feel I can achieve more.

I'm already in my late 20's and thinking of working out so I can be with my loved ones longer since I work the graveyard shift. I don't get too much sunlight and I don't eat good food too 😂 News left and right people dying in their sleep or just having a heart attack in my age is too many and I'm scared that I might be next. I don't want to pass away earlier than my mother as I don't want her to go through it again. So this really made me feel more encouraged ❤ Also, I have cats; I don't want to leave them to somebody I don't know if they are gonna be well taken care of.

I usually have breakfast (a protein smoothie, eggs, any food that doesn't make me feel heavy) about an hour or two before working out. And water before, during, and after a workout. It does depend on the intensity and type of exercise that you're doing, though! I mainly do calisthenics and this works for me :)

Drinking too much is bad for your health. If you are waking up with a hangover that’s your body telling you to drink less alcohol and more water. Depending on the size of your body & genetics the amount you can handle is different. Look up recommended serving sizes for alcohol. The USDA has serving size recommendations. I’m sure Korea probably has their own standards. Being able to enjoy food in moderation is important. Overly restrictive diets aren’t healthy and can lead to eating disorders. I hope you both stay happy and healthy. You don’t have to just eat chicken & rice to be fit. Thanks for sharing your experiences. You can get tested for food allergies or lactose intolerance if having GI problems.

I recently discovered your videos and thumbs up, I really like them. You seem like a very nice, warm-hearted person. But isn't it funny how different life can be for people of the same age? I'm going to be 32 in a month and fuck, that's a turn off. Not because I think "getting old" is bad, absolutely not, but because a lot of things are harder at this stage if the fundamentals aren't right. By that I mean family, friendships, work, surroundings - basically the pillars of life, right? In my case, ever since I was a child, it has felt like I was born into the wrong life. To this day, life feels lost. Funnily enough, I recently thought for the first time "this would be right, this would be the right place," yet that's not possible due to many factors. Middlefinger up, pls. I also cut off all my friendships and acquaintances about 9 years ago (oh shit, that sounds like a damn long time) because none of it felt genuine and grounded, nothing fitted. That hasn't changed to this day and honestly? Just having a friendship for the sake of having someone, yeah, no thanks. :D But it's tiring. You want to do something? You can only do it alone. Analyzing patterns of thought and situations, mental growth - it's all alone in your head with self-talk (although my mindset and how I observe things is what I like most about myself). It's so unhealthy for the psyche and has such a huge impact on life. Ironically, none of this is reflected in my social behavior, people always perceive me as outgoing, "cool" and laid back. We all know the good old saying "don't judge a book by its cover." :D What I'm trying to say is: I'm incredibly happy for anyone who has found the right people in their life with whom they can share memories and, above all, with whom they can talk. Believe me, I would die for a stimulating exchange where both sides feel safe and understood. It's not something to take for granted. With that being said, Joan, I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful life, keep up the good work. 😊
