I've been seeing a lot of these videos with so called "free energy" and "infinite energy" motors and I was very curious. I saw it was still up for debate and I couldn't really find a clear answer. So, I did my own project and experimented and the results are very interesting! Comment below what you think!

Great job explaining the operating principle and why this design does in fact work. For a hand made unit, you did very well. Now imagine everything perfectly shaped, balanced and running in a vacuum to eliminate the air drag and away she goes.... Thanks for making this video for us.👍

I'm with you. this type of engine could really work. yeah theres the principle of conservation of energy, but thats only an explanation that fits the most on the "physical questions". In the past, people were convinced, that the earth is flat, till someone refuted it. Or just think about Albert Einstein. He was thinking out of the box and so he opened a new way to see the galaxy e.g. and so we should! Think big ;)

If you can get the center drum to balance where it is spinning without any resistance, you may find that will aid in the spinning and it probably will spin much longer, it looks out of round just a bit which will cause the drum to loose rotation and slow to a stop much faster.

What if you were to install a hand crank on the end of the rod to give it a start? Wouldn't that be better than using your wrist? (A crank like the old cars used which I believe were removed once motor was started.) Perhaps some kind of spring mechanism? Even wrapping a rope around the shaft to pull start it might be better than your wrist. But thank you for showing this. This is a very good prototype...and I've seen other similar designs. One thing to consider when using aluminum materials for your base structure though. Even though it is non-magnetic, the induction of an electromagnetic field through it may induce an opposing field (although much weaker than iron) which reduces efficiencies (by how much is speculative). Keep going though....tighter tolerances, better balance, stronger magnets....it all counts for an improved end product. Again, great job!

i don't think that , is about inertia of rotating objects that sliding in rotation on magnetic fields and slow down en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_moments_of_inertia think if this could be rotated in 0 gravity and the rotor could have 4 magnets (2 on the rotor and 2 in extremis to sustain the rotor ) and you could give some rotations moments when will slowing down to compensate so to restore initial velocity .. you could have 1/2 of a perpetuum mobile generator with a calculated consumer by a formula(you could find out by experimenting in time and evaluating the power forces of the magnets, the rotor's speed ,the output energy obtained, the compensate energy losses to restore the rotation,...and other variables i do not know at the time: i don't experimented)

Lads it's physics and is 100% possible and he's on the right track. The only problem with these motors is they aren't likely to produce enough power to run anything other than flywheel which would actually assist the perpetual motion, making the resistance of the magnets less and if the resistant sides if the magnets were shielded that thing would only stop if you physically stopped it. I'd put my life on it. The resistance of the magnets is the only hurdle 👍✌

I've done my share of playing around with hard drive magnets; &, given what I've seen them do, this seems very plausible to me. The kid seems to be on the right track. When the weather finally gets better, I'm probably going to try playing around with something like this. Even if it were to just run fan blades down in my "mag shack," it'd be a handy little contraption... If (by scaling up) it would turn the rotor for a stator/rotor motor I'm also wanting to do a few things with, that would be even better. {shrug} Some folks are just conditioned to keep thinking "inside the box..."

@@augustoironside3256 - Perhaps you don't understand the difference between 'permanent magnets' and 'electromagnets'. Since the only reason to apply electricity to a motor is to turn the copper wire windings in the rotor INTO a magnet. And since 'permanent magnets' are magnets already, no external electricity is needed...or possible, because the individual magnets aren't connected to each-other, and therefore, can't complete a circuit. All that's really needed to make a magnet motor work is to shield one pole so they all repel each-other and not attract...and that can be accomplished using 'mu-metal' as a shielding material. There's videos on shielding.

You are correct- total maximum output power as kinetic energy , motion, and frictional losses etc can only be equal to the total amount potential energy stored in the magnets and the amount of energy you imparted to the machine when you spun the shaft. You can easily do this in space under 0 gravity too, but in space there are almost no friction inputs and the laws of Inertia keep the object spinning until acted upon by and external frictional force. Motors like these can spin themselves for awhile on the planet but they can produce very little usable HP output and not for long. Your model could run longer if the rotar was totally balanced and you used very low friction ceramic ball bearings. In space you could consider this a potential energy (stored in the magnets) powered gyroscope, it would run much longer but can still never do much useful work!! But the laws of inertia would keep it spinning for ever if no losses, drag, friction etc was there to slow it down. But you found out that as soon as you upset the spinning rotar with movement of the system, you have imparted enough frictional losses to the inertia of the rotar +plus the power from the repulsion of the magnets to drain the system of some of its' power and it will stop. The amount of power you drained with your movement was exactly or close to it the amount of energy you had to put into the system to get it to spin. Hook up a variable frictional load to the output shaft and you will quickly realize perpetual motion machines can't exist!!

If electricity creates magnetic fields, then magnetic fields create electricity. If there's enough potential energy in a gallon of gas to run New York City for a year, then how much potential is there in a magnet? There's a formula for it. Throw a rubber ball in an octagon in Space and see how long it will bounce! Magnetic fields make great batteries because they're dipoles, just like batteries are....but now they configure monopoles by placing dipoles in a pattern which cancels the chosen pole. Then, two North poles in proximity provide repulsion with NO SOUTH POLES TO INTERFERE! No attraction to cancel the monopoles! Simple, really

@@drpk6514 There are patents for all sorts of reasons and not always because the ideas represented work. If this "worked" it would not slow down. It does slow down because no further energy is applied to the system. If you try to extract work from this system, it will stop quickly. Therefore, it does not work even if there are patents for the idea. There are no frictionless bearings. They will always generate wasted heat because they are always working... which always extracts energy to do the work.

Looks awesomely simple and promising. Great job. Looks like you need to resolve your rotor unbalance issue. It's either unbalance or eccentricity. Consider using a small battery powered servo as a starter. Find someway to monitor the speed. I'm curious to see what speed does it maintain and what speed does it slow down to. Remember the more magnets you use the slower the speed. Maybe find a way to disengage the other magnets to only 8 or 6. You would have to have a reliable setup, my theory, if you want to go to 4 or 2 magnets. Again nice setup. Good luck!

You have a tiny Fly Weight on there why not use a Ultra weight flywheel 10x 15x 30x the weight of the rotor once it spins up and "Catches" as you say centrifugal force and weight alone should be able to keep it running far longer that what it Is at the moment Look at some of the old 1800's Diesel motors they were tiny little 30CC Cylinders with a flywheel 500x their weight once it got up to speed you could shut off the fuel for 5-10 Min sometimes longer if they bearings are really good , Expansion, Contraction IE turning it into a Stirling type motor. or if you set it on a revolution counter and every 30th time it cycled it gave fuel for 2 cycles bringing it back up to speed like a "Hit and Miss motor" There is no true Free energy with the right setup you can actually generate electricity for 1/2000th -1/4000th of the average cost Just combine a ULTRA weight flywheel to a hit and miss diesel yes it would be a pain in the Arse to get started but once it got spun up it would be almost impossible to stop

Take your hand away from the top of the stator. People have used those plasma balls to fake videos in the past were you place your hand on the plasma ball and the other hand on the device. Electricity is then passed through your body to channel power into the stator. Also, create everything (well as much as you can) out of transparent material including the surface that you use to place the device on. At the moment I am very skeptical. You have GOT to do the experiment in a more scientific environment (not your bed room) to convince people it is not a fake.

Nice science project. The magnets stacked in certain configurations result in a certain cadence as the "motor" is "jump started" by hand. I can imagine using varying shapes of magnets and varying gaps/spaces between each and varying the # of magnets will all give different results so that's interesting. Like so many free energy motors, this one is again not loaded - meaning it's not being used to drive or work or produce anything. That would be the real test for me. BTW, all the energy that comes from the sun is FREE. It arrives here free of charge and all we have to do is collect it. I believe that to be the ultimate energy source - and it's free - already produced and you were sharp to refer to that as converting the energy. I agree there entirely. All in all, pretty impressive and educational.

Yeah, most of the "generators" I've seen have had some sort of tricky or flat out ignorance going on, BUT I do find it interesting to find SO MANY inventors engineers and amateurs trying it. In fact, I find it even more interesting that plans for such a thing landed in the heads of a friend and I years ago, and only after intentionally searching it out did we find out it had been tried and tried and patented MANY times and tried and debunked and, well... I think it landed in LOT of heads, as do many "impossible" ideas like Oh, alternating current or microwaves. If we take into consideration that we don't REALLY know how (qualitatively) magnets work, (especially when printing custom fields has so recently become a reality), and we can all admit that a device that generates torque for the life of the magnets (could be a loooooooong battery life) would be awesome, then trying it out continues to be worth a few hundred peoples time. Beautiful prototype, by the way. No wonder you're frustrated. I'd recommend using that talent to build a setup that allows you to fiddle with the geometry of the fields.

+thesimulacre He's going to have to find a way to turn the permanent magnet's force on and off. That's the Only Way he'll ever get this thing to run without cheating. Notice his right hand is out of frame at 8:32, that's when he is applying power via an electric motor to the left side of the axle. Of course, all of that is out of the camera's frame. Nice try, but no cigar. Cheaters never win.

I succeeded using recombinant water (HHO to H2O and back) It is how lightning works; solar pulls it apart and solar sparks it back. Your idea works great, but I want more available power. Seven Magnets abreast of each other and you might try staggering them 7 to 12 magnets across. When water boils, it explodes and destroys the container. When it freezes, it explodes and destroys the container. When you separate the hydrogen and oxygen and recombine it, 2000+ degrees are released. I called mine the water piston.

Wow you have proved a point, the point being the principle works exactly how theoretically you can’t say but work it does. Whether permanent magnet motors create energy or tap an unknown source perhaps remains to be proven at least publicly in other words does the energy of magnetisation exceed or equal the overall output of the motor or vice versa..

this idea is actually quite smart, the problem is that the resistive force produced when electricity is generated in the coil will cause the coil to decelerate, and consequently fall out of orbit. then, the energy required to get it back into orbit will be more than what you produced in the coil.

Most patent examiners are not only patent attorneys with law degrees but also have a degree in one field or another and are experts in their respective fields... Nobody gets patents on fraudulent devices...period end of story. Get educated on what it takes to become a patent examiner these guys are not dumb by any stretch of the imagination, most have had over 12 years of college and have masters degrees in several fields.

*ATTENTION! Could be a fake. Too many cuts in this video where a motor could've been activated or placed and removed. There's no point in showing that there is no hidden motor and later cutting out crucial parts of the video! Also, at timestamp **9:30** there's a cut in the video with NO cut in the audio! Looks very fabricated. Furthermore, a REAL motor is supposed to give power to an electrical load, but THIS so-called "motor" does only spin on its OWN. Maybe you've created something that preserves the kinetic energy that's given to it by hand, but it will stop immediately after you attach some load. What kind of "engine" is that??*

Pay very close attention to the axle at around 7:41. You might have to use < > to go frame by frame, but there's a slot for an external drive of some kind and it stands out above the face of the bearing, unlike the other side where the axle is flush with the bearing. As has been mentioned before, about 8:49 when the motor "catches", you can see a dark object reflected by the surface of the motor case. It's suspect from the beginning that the whole object is not in frame, despite him being so adamant about his creation actually working. I'm deeply ashamed to share a planet with you, Haberdashery.

Google "Infinity SAV Team" - They have made, and demonstrated a commercial-style WORKING magnetic motor, basically the same principal to this - they spin it up, then it sustains it's self... the difference between this one, and the one from the SAV Team, are this one is made of MDF and isn't perfectly balanced - you need to use as light materials as possible, and have it balanced as perfectly as you can - as any resistance on the shaft/bearings etc will cause drag and cause it to slow, and eventually stop... - if you can get it smooth enough that this doesn't happen, then you're on to a winner...
