Thank you! This is the first video that really makes it clear where to insert your hook when you turn the heel, and how to prevent a gap or bump when joining to the skipped stitch in a previous row, especially the second time you do it. The pattern I have been trying to follow says to sc into the skipped stitch 2 rows below for every row after turning, no slip stitches, no sc2tog. I ended up with a bump despite multiple attempts. I think your technique will make a difference. That pattern also skips the 1st stitch in the row rather than the last stitch as you do. I think it makes it harder to see where to put your hook to make the turn than with your technique. Yours is the best video I have found on this technique - the clearest instructions and the best filming - I can actually see clearly where to put my hook. Plus you have a very friendly demeanor. You are a good teacher!

You must have been trying to follow the other tutorial same as I am. I also skipped first stitch of rows. Then I couldn't see where to put hook in other tutorial on increase. This vid is clearer to follow but now I am confused because I did decrease at beginning of each row. I may start the heel part over so I decrease at ends of rows. I'm not a beginner at crochet but never did short row heels before.

I would have liked to have seen how you continued on the second round. The problem I have is when I come back around, where do I put my hook to crochet the "stitch that was left unworked" on the previous round? In other words, which st do I use to continue the pattern "sc in the unworked st on the next row, slip st in the unworked st on the next row."?

I get the basic idea of what needs to be done, but I'm confused about the initial 25 stitches in your example. Is the first row totally 24 single crochet stitches (begin single crochet in 2nd chain=24 stitches) and then the following rows are where you leave the last stitch unworked? In other words the decreases are going to be uneven on the two sides? I tried making the sample with two colors of yarn and ended up with uneven increases, reaching the end of one side of the piece with unworked stitches still not finished on the other side. What am I'm doing wrong? Should the decreases at the beginning occur on the same rows and not be alternating?
