Super good information Sam. Mindfully balancing free work with paid shoots is a super great question, and I agree, free work is very important. Some of my biggest shoots came from doing free work for people who referred me to bigger clients. Thanks for sharing!

I watched the video because of the advice on working with brands. And that is something I still do not understand. I mean, I have some years of experience with photography. I have got little paid portraits. I'd say like 2 only. Now, I know that my photos are way better than before, but I am not at the level I want to be and people (especially models) want me to take them free photos? Like, they expect me to travel to the city which they are located and take them photos for free. On the other hand, Brands do not want to pay. I have sent them 3 diff pricing to 3 diff brands and all of them said "Yeah, I''ll come back later". I am still trying to figure out what is going on. I am friends with two models and I will continue to shoot with them until someone is brave enough to pay for my job! Thanks for this video.
