Working with color can be fun, but also challenging. These simple tips will help make your experiment with color more fun than challenging!
1. Before adding color to your project, use propanediol or propylene glycol to make a paste with your colorant or pigment. This will help ensure that the color doesn’t separate from out of your product and sink to the bottom of the container.
2. Use a mortar and pestle to really grind the colorant or pigment into the proanediol or propylene glycol. It may seem that the color dissipates quickly, however, to ensure that the color is fully blended it’s best to use a mortar and pestle to grind until you don’t see any gritty particles.
3. Use titanium dioxide to adjust the shade of your color. A small amount goes a long way so be sure to add small amounts at a time for best results.
4. Always record your results and measurements. Be sure to carefully measure exactly how much color, propanediol or propylene glycol, and titanium dioxide so that you can reproduce your results.
