In all seriousness, the fact that Jackie Chan has survived for 70 years is a minor miracle.

Its so interesting to finally hear Richard Norton speak. You watch movies with these people and you never hear them speak down to earth about what they are doing. Richard Norton comes across as a very intellectual, very calm, nice guy.

Luckily Chad Stahelski did take note.. and just like that hollywood have a good action movie called John Wick. All it takes was a former stuntman to become a director who understood the art of action film making.. just like how they do it in classic Hongkong films.

Hard working definitely, hardest working...questionable. The unsung heroes ( miscellaneous stuntmen) are the hardest working - don't be fooled by the "performs all his own stunts" gimmick.

@@slamjackmonicker3067 He doesnt do "all of his own stunts".. most, sure... but not all. That was the marketing gimmick for Rumble I the Bronx, a movie in which he did have a stunt double for the big parking garage jump... Stanley Tong, the director doubled him.

I love that once Richard Norton mentioned somewhere: "Never miss the chance to flex yourself on somebody!" I took it seriously tbh and whenever someone tries to pick the fight with me outside, end up regretting it😁 So kudos to you Mr. Norton.

8:50 Especially, on the set of THE PROTECTOR Jackie Chan hated director James Glickenhaus cos he didnt get total control over his own stunts. And yeah, dizzy fight scenes (10:27-10:31) do not make a movie.

Jackie Chan is never a street fighter! He lied a lot about his Kung fu because he never even learned Kung fu. He had many bodyguards after he got famous. Jet Li and Donnie Yen never need bodyguards, I’ve met them both in person on the streets. Bruce Lee was a known street fighter at his teen in Hong Kong. Many times police were called. That’s why his father sent him back to USA.

@@waiyee4410 which part did he lie about his kungfu? He always get beated in his own movies. And the bodyguard tell nothing about fighting skill. Most skillful boxer still have bodyguard and alot doesn't. And Iam very doubt that Jet Li or Donnie Yen never have bodyguard. How many times did you see them without bodyguard of 365 days per year? And that is only 1 year we are talking about. If fight with rules, Jackie will beat bruce lee, donnie yen will beat jet li. If fight in the street, anything can happen and anyone can win.

@joeswanson733

americans said he did all his own stunts. jackie didn't say yes or no he just kept quiet on that. now of course if you watch jackie movies... all the "big" stunts he will do. no doubt about it. the small stuff here and there. im pretty sure sometimes it would make sense to have a stunt double and reason is you can't wear out the star so much that he can't perform the final big finale stunts. so it's all logistics.

I wonder how many people unnecessarily got unjured bc jacky shet demanded perfection. his film does not entertain me. it looks sloppy and dizzying. I don't find his style of fighting to be realistic or fun to watch. For that, he wasted his resources and injured many people during his filming. Like the scene shown in this video of a man falling from 2 storied onto a concrete floor and a man who slammed the back of his head into the ground could have both died. for that reason. I think jacky shet I don't think he deserves the credit he thinks he deserves.
@kgunitkeese17
@kgunitkeese17 2 жыл бұрын
Sloppy? Hollywood action is the sloppy and dizzy kind because the camera is always moving. At least with Jackie you can see whats going on, and what is going to happen before it is shown. Lots of people do get injured, but Jackie actually covers their costs if they do get hurt.
@joeswanson733
@joeswanson733 Жыл бұрын
being a stuntman in hong kong is dangerous and you know what you signed up for when you took the job. and jackies chans movies are not sloppy and dizzying you're mistakening his films for other lackluster action movies that have poor choreography and camera work. now i will say that jackie does waste too much time on certain shots like others have mentioned where it can be done in far fewer takes. but then again that's the dangers of having him be the director, choreographer, sometiems producer etc. he would have way too much power over the movie.
