Thanks for the video. It's great to open the eyes of people who may never know what our military personnel experience working with our allies. I spent over two years in Japan and was deployed to South Korea during that time. I sincerely appreciate the time spent getting to know and working with the civilian and military in both countries. We are stronger together and better people by understanding and accepting each other's differences.

Great Interview; Remember when Stationed in Korea*(1990-2) and worked with KATUSAs and great to work with! I know a majority of USA Soldiers rarely interacted or socialized with them! Would be fair to say they looked down on them, partly because of Language and Culture! I believe i was a bit of an exception, one reason being while at Cp. Henry, took a Korean Language course at Central Texas College Satellite Campus at night. After that went mostly on my own around the Country(went with 1 person one time who wasn't afraid). No other GI that I was aware of did the exploring i did, but possibly some did! Most GIs I saw stood close to Base/Ville area because felt safer! Nothing wrong with that!

I join the army back in 1981 we had no cell phone back then so we played more sports 🏈 on our off time we train and worked out 💪🏽 we read and study to better ourselves to perform our MOS to best of our knowledge and if u wanted to call home u had to wait because it was a privilege you had to earn that by showing your squad was the best of the week or the best platoon and u get five minutes to call and a long ass waiting line cause we only had one pay phone in the Barricks . This new military generation has it too sweet.

So funny. It's been a while since I served in the ROK Army, but seems like a lot has changed! If you had a phone back in the day, they sent you to a military prison or a guardhouse. (unless of course, you are a commissioned officer, or a staff sergeant.) And I haven't came across much U.S. soldiers, but know a few high ranking officers.. they are all nice. Even lower ranks are all nice. Some can buff it up, but that can happen anywhere. Thanks to the brave U.S. women and men in uniform! Thanks to our Korean soldiers!

I've worked with kimchi GI's, the venerable KATUSA, and RoK soldiers(1982-1983)...Of the 3, the most dedicated, the most disciplined were the RoK soldiers...everything they do seems to centralize on training, whether they're in the field, which is most of the time, or in garrison playing soccer...kimchi GI's are there probably because of family pressures, or the desire to see their home country on someone else's dime, but they didn't have the desire to really be in the military...last but not least would be the venerable KATUSA, who, in trying to avoid actual military service, signed up for the KATUSA program, hoping to just skate by with being assigned to US military units, and while they do stand formation, and participate in US military, they have their own command structure, their own barracks, their own sack bars, px etc...the KATUSA really doesn't have any interest in being in the military sans the fact they are serving out their obligation albeit doing as little as possible...
