Dariusz talks to us about working with Ridley, about his process. Ridley likes to draw and use location scouts. He uses storyboards as his train of thought but still allowing ideas to evolve. Dariusz explains how they have a good relationship as they have a similar frame of references to other movies.

Not many people comprehend how amazing Ridley Scott actually is, and how truly disheartening will be not having him around in 20 or 30 years from now. A true master.

Would’ve liked his insight into Ridley’s use of multiple cameras and its challenges to lighting a scene, versus a single camera approach to the lighting. They do great work together.

If your talking about Ridley Scotts work hes one of the few who still know how to use the camera to tell a story there frames are well composed. look at ever other filmaker and they make boring looking films that anyone could make. I still find there frames to be painterly. I'm Bored with the standard coverage ever other filmmaker used

@@dornravlin I disagree. Ridley often shoots four cameras and shoots lots of standard coverage. Tight bust shots and close ups. Sure the framing is purposely but the story telling shows almost no body language and at least the films he shot this year didn’t convey much sense of space. Compare that to how Hoyte Van Hoytema works with much simpler compositions and a single camera. You feel like you’re standing in the room with the cameras. Off course this is all completing on a high level. Ridley’s films are perfectly well shot and much better than much of the mainstream BS. But he doesn’t even feel like the same filmmaker who stage Blade Runner. That film had an incredible sense of place and behavior even tho had a lot of long lensie shots.

@@VariTimo Some times he does if hes doing American Gangster or The Martian I know he can be a slacker but I feel your to hard on the guy. Its amazing he is able to still make a decent movie at 84 I haven't seen the last Duel but it looks like a return to form. When it comes to Ridley Scott a bad shot from him is a masterpiece for most other directors
