Found my love for the fire service sitting outside of The Big House every Saturday night with my mom and dad in the early 2000s. We used to sit across the street in the bank lot and watch for an hour or 2 waiting for them to respond. My dad was a retired cop and new a couple ffs at 2s. Chief Tim Hatch came out one night and greeted us, asked us to come inside and check it out. Got to ride around the block in the officer seat of Truck 2 while my dad rode backwards behind me. Dad said he instantly regretted it when we made the right and then left out of the station. Core memory that sent me on my way to the career I have now.

The architecture and beauty of that fire house is incredible. To think it was built 100 years ago and still in use and that today we do not spend the time or money to build such beautiful long lasting structures is really sad. Thankfully this one is well preserved and still in use. Not only that but the fact modern large fire equipment fit inside the garage doors (height) is amazing.

Love the Tone out! Red Alert Warning from Star Trek! Anyway, AWESOME VIDEO! Loved every second of it. Glad you did not Have to slide the pole while half asleep! We had a guy visit our firehouse YEARS ago, early to mid 90’s, was not used to sliding the pole and tried in the middle of the night half asleep. He was fine, just did not grip the pole right and wrap his legs the way he should have. He had a hard landing and ended up on his pride. AKA, butt. Please keep these AMAZING VIDEOS coming!!!!!

@WorkingFirePIO Жыл бұрын
It's a situation I hadn't ever thought of until that moment. It's bad enough on a warm night, but certainly life threatening in worse weather conditions. This person said it would take about 30 minutes to get enough battery charge to get home, which must have seemed like an eternity.

interesting station for sure. Pretty average size to what we're used to. Thus e.g. I live in a village of 10,000 inhabitants and the volunteer FD has 10 vehicles 5 containers and 3 trailers. Staffed stations in the cities usually come with 20+ vehicles. Largest in state was just upgraded from 47 to 55 bays. One thing which I think looks really odd is the common room at 1:10 in the video, with the beds scattered throughout the room Love the color scheme on the apparatus!
