I thought there was a maximum number of characters for the headline. Would love to see a profile that does that. Any examples you can share? Thank you!

Hi Alessandra, great question. A perfect example is JT's headline: www.linkedin.com/in/jtodonnell/ - As you can see she separated out her key skill sets that she's known for with vertical line dividers. While there is a character max you should be able to fit at least your top 4-5 skill sets. Does this help?

Totally! Amazing how much she was able to fit in, thanks! :)

Great tips J.T., I enjoyed your delivery of them as well! :) You may have noticed this, but thought might be helpful to mention that in past few weeks, LinkedIn changed the settings so you can actually turn the "stealth mode" job search from your main LI profile, and not having to go into your settings and privacy, which most of my clients found confusing to find on their own!

Thanks for the tip Scott!

Scott, that's super awesome LinkedIn has the stealth mode without going into privacy settings. Would you mind sharing how this is done?

I have noticed with Linkedin that to get the full effect there is a charge, I have been with them for 2 yrs and never had any luck landing any interview much less job offers
@Workitdaily7 жыл бұрын
Hi Darren, we understand the frustration. We're of the belief that it's not worth it to pay for the LinkedIn membership. It doesn't make any difference when looking for a job. What does make a difference is your strategy. We recommend getting some additional support and coaching to help you come up with a strategy (for LinkedIn and more) that can help you get interviews and job offers. We offer a Premium Subscription that does just that, it also includes LInkedIn, resume and cover letter reviews. If that's something you'd like to learn more about please visit: courses.workitdaily.com/p/subscription/ You can save $10 off our monthly rate, by using the code KZbin10 (in all caps) at checkout. Best of luck Darren!

We understand how stressful it can be to be unemployed and not seeing results. We have many customers in your same situation. Our service is only $19/mo and if you're not satisfied with what we have to offer within the first 30 days, then you get a FULL refund. That $19 includes access to 15 courses, a community of like minded professionals and private coaching from our team of experts trained by JT O'Donnell herself. They can help review your resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profiles as well as help you craft a plan of attack. We're the first service of this kind out there. We want to offer elite level coaching at an extremely affordable rate. Best of luck in your job search. :)

As an Administrative Assistant, I was wondering, what are some key skill sets I can use?
@JessicaHicks5 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Most often these are what I look for, but it depends on the role: Administrative Scheduling Planning Coordination Calendaring Bookkeeper Filing I would look at the job description and ensure the keywords (any that apply) are included into your resume where recruiters can easily see you have administrative skills. Today, any technical skills and things that show you work with multiple team or levels of people help too.

Hi JT, First of all, thanks for answering my question. Secondly, Thanks for all these grate tips, they are extremely helpful! I’d like to ask you a question with regards to job searching - if you’ve seen a job post in your dream company both on their website & LinkedIn, what’s the best following steps to do to get noticed? 1.apply both on their website & LinkedIn. 2.apply on LinkedIn and randomly ask for referrals from your connection. Many thanks

So if you don't have the job related experience, you can still list it as a skill in you headline right. The positions I want all have Marketing, Public Relations, Writing/Editing as skills they're looking for. I was an English Major. So I definitely have writing and editing skills. However, PR and Marketing I didn't go to school for. But I have held sales positions and youth director positions (where reputation is everything.) So if I put Marketing | PR | Writing | Editing in my linked In headline to attract the jobs I want, would they look at my resume and think well she lied? Or would they just ask me in the interview why I feel I'm good at these things?

For some reason, I'm still not getting responses even though I tried to put some skills on the headline. I would only get notified if "unknown" recruiters have viewed my profile.
@markh22834 жыл бұрын
So, you're saying to put as many keywords in your headline so you get moved to the top of the list? Wouldn't this make your profile/headline sloppy or to busy to read? I would think the simpler the better.

Hi there. Great question. This can be found in under Account Settings in the Job Seeking Preferences section. Once you're in that section is it the 2nd option down. Once you click on it, a toggle will appear that allows you to switch it to "Yes". Does this help?

1- Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage. 2- Select Settings & Privacy from the dropdown. 3- Click the Privacy tab at the top of the page. 4- Under the Job seeking preferences section, click Change next to Let recruiters know you’re open to opportunities. 5- Switch the toggle to Yes to share that you’re open and appear in recruiter searches matching your career interests. Switch the toggle to No to stop sharing your career interests with recruiters. 6- Your changes will be saved automatically.

Excellent advice on the saddest piece of information. Recruiters were thought to be representatives who are assumed to be there to help assist those looking for work, however, they turn from those actively seeking employment, seems unfair.

Most of the job agents in LinkedIn are idiots and know nothing. I have met one guy there who arranged me a phone interview with an IT company. Then they gave a test to complete which I passed. The agent told me that I will have a last interview with the CEO, and I the job will be mine 99%. The interview was supposed to be more about myself and basically talk to the CEO. So far so good. Then I got a phone call from them. Unfortunately, it wasn't the CEO, but another tech guy who was asking me technical questions that were completely irrelevant with the job description(I applied for an Android Job role passed the test, but I was asked how to create REST api with Java Spring). Of course I failed and lost the job, as I have never worked as a backend developer. It's like asking from a cardiologist to perform a knee surgery. Can he do it? So please don't trust these guys whatever they tell you and be VERY VERY CAREFUL!
