I have that same model from the '70's, that I'm currently "refreshing." The condition looks much like yours, and has been used heavily over the past forty years, and is still, amazingly, in great operating condition. However, with the cost of birch plywood, or hardwood, I'll be refinishing the current top. Enjoyed your video!

Fascinated to see how this goes. I’ve just replaced mine, of similar vintage, with another early model (I too appreciate the build quality). I struggled with the roll pins to the extent that I admitted defeat, hence my interest in seeing how it’s done!

Workmate 400 here. Mine has the top that can flip up vertical and clamp down on the the other half. Don't use it a ton but workmates are highly underutilized. Nice video, and glad to see you keeping your Father's tools going strong.

thanks, I like these better than the stock tops so far, though the mineral oil finish has made them much less grippy

I like this kind of project, using scraps to make something new again. Pretty much just time.

Nice job. Check your dad’s one. The feet should be adjustable for leveling.
