Love this. Made my own uchikomi bands and practice everyday. By technique has definitely improved. Landed a left handed Ogoshi in randori Nd I'm still chuffed about it. Morte is my next favourite throw and these bands are great for practicing that. Perfect throw against taller opposition.

I live in a small town where there is no Judo Dojo within 100 miles. The BJJ dojos smell like feet and they want $100 to $140 per month. So I work out with these bands. They're really great for perfecting your technique, but I've discovered that it changes the arrows of the pushing and pulling movements of the wrists. It makes one do movements in linear, rather than circular motion. But, this minor problem can be corrected just with an hour or so by practicing with an Uke. One can also put them on a poll and do Kosoto gake, Uchimata, Hane Goshi, Osoto Gari, Sasae Tsuri Komi Ashi, Tai Otoshi, and Tomoe Nage drills if you lay down and place the bands on one leg and push up and using the other hand to pull and guide the throw. I get a really great work with them. My whole repertoire takes about an hour and I do as Sensei Adams 20 on each side. After I'm done, I'm pretty exhausted. I've found that if I play some good dancing music I can pretty much do repetitions until I can't do one more. It's really fun.

Sometimes when I'm at home I use the bands to practice shime waza. You need to get creative with this, I made 3' round wooden pole, wrapped towels around it and I practice the so called can opener or going into very tight situations to make my fingers stronger. I practice applying every shime waza technique I possible can and hold it for as long as possible to develop strength and precision. When I practice I go slowly and study the how the wrist should circle the carotids and trachea, etc. Soon, you will discover that you may need to use your legs, like wrapping them around the pole to get leverage. This alone teaches you that to perform proper Shime Waza TOTAL BODY CONTROL OF BOTH UKE AND TORI IS REQUIRED. With this one, you need to get creative, but it's possible and enjoyable.

Interests me why people, whose sport is competed in bare feet, train in runners. Wouldn’t you want to train the feet the way you use them in your sport? Weird.
