Workshop 012 Ideas Take Shape

Once in a great while, a project gets a hold of my interest so much, that I find that I roll out of bed with extra enthusiasm. The days end too quickly. I want to continue long after the sun quits on me. Meals are often forgotten. Even paddling a kayak didn't compare in interest to this new obsession. Not even a tweaked back could prevent me from pushing forward. My mobile workshop has turned into one of those projects. From the initial thought that a trailer could be a great way to store things and get my silver truck back in the kayak business, to actually finding one for a good price and close by on Marketplace, to this new revelation I had while sitting and thinking which emerged on paper. This design made me smile and pine rather excessively for actually seeing it come to fruition. I've had several projects in my life where I saw it in my head first and liked what I saw so much, that I couldn't stop until it was done. This one is especially nice because I get to share it with the world.

I think you should just use a couple adjustable height sawhorses to put the Kayak on when working on it in the center of the space so you can get around it and also put away when not using them.

Have you thought about making a rolling workbench that you can push up to one side when you're working but then pull it to the middle to put your kayak on it so you can access both sides of the kayak when you're working.

Marty, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were still doing boat work ;)........ Gas theory of boat work and time. The gas law states that gas expands to fit all space available to it. *** therefore *** Boat work expands to fit all of the time available to it. The leading cause of the gas theory of boat work is the snowball effect of boat work. The snowball effect of boat work states: Any boat project in progress will stay in progress until it causes the start of another boat project. The act of fixing something causes something else to break, so now you have to fix the second thing before you fix the 1st. Fixing the second, you will find a third, and so on and so forth, and this continues until there is no more time.

dust collection, i know all to well how a miter saw can wreck a shop if some effort to control dust isnt made. i know you have a lot going on and why add something else to the list, but now is probably the best time to deal with it before you build everything out and then have to open it back up. i dont have anything fancy, just a shop vac and dust cyclone, its a night and day difference in the mess. youre a clever guy im sure you could rig up an effective system.
