I remember the first amplifier kit I made was the Hafler DH-200 35 years or so ago. It was able to drive my Koss Model 1As better than SAE or anything else. The Phase Linear 700 immediately was fried. This is so much more well thought out, it's hard to believe anyone would by one assembled. The options are great too. Thank you for the video. You show how to create something that everyone should watch and learn from working with the components themselves as we all learn from your example and hopefully, a new generation of audio tweekers to those inspired to follow the science and math behind it are coming to rescue audio with well engineered products at a reasonable price as the audiophile has priced good sound into the stratosphere and often measure and sound worse than the hype.

I'd love a three channel version. Oh, and all the other stuff needed for a fully active system.

Hahaha.... Yeah. Well I guess loads of active versions will appear soon enough.

@@TheAlphaAudio As the market stands now, I'd like to try for the Satori Waveguided tweeter and some kind of cardioid solution with the Purifi drivers down to 80 or so, driven by Eigentakts, and a multisub below that, possibly controlled by the new DEQX Pre-8. But even contemplating the idea hurts my wallet.

With music clips, too, please! Yes, I know I know,… someone will point out it won’t sound the same on my computer/headphones/speakers/etc., but we can still get somewhat of an idea. 🤩

I remember your Eval1 project and that later on It didn't match well with power hungry speakers. That was unexpected, with a 1200va power supply. The wires from ac inlet to hypex on that project were very thin, if I remember correctly. The diameter of wire on this project seems to be of a somewhat larger diameter. Could you check if powering inefficiënt speakers is ok now? It should of course, with two times 1200va on a stereo amp that has ample output power. I've been curious about this, since I own a ready built eval1 that has always showed total control of my 85db (in) efficiënt speakers up to silly volume levels.
@TheAlphaAudio2 жыл бұрын
Inefficiënt doesn't mean hard to drive ... If the impedance is flat and doesn't 'dip' they can be an easy load. We will check the performance of the Eval2 soon.

They drive my 3 Ohm Apogees so I don't think it's a matter of power. It may be because of the low gain of the buffer

I still have not found the complete kit for EVAL-1 or EVAL-2. Hypex has complete kits via diyclassd.com, but I've found nothing comparable from Purifi. I don't know who put together the list of items shown in the video.

SoundImports is offering express shipping to the United States, yes. Please notice we are having a full English webshop. The cases will be online anytime soon!
The SMPS 1200 A400 seems like overkill to me. I use that to power my Eval 1 Eigentact Stereo amp and it's more than sufficient for that purpose. I think Hypex just doesn't have anything that would work in mono, so they threw that in. Also, if blue light triggers you, the led can be ordered in orange from Ghent.

I was excited to try this as a DIY kit .. but the cost to order per amp is less than it costs to buy locally premade from a brand. That just seems very odd..
