i think it's important that we understand that we can all find the help we need in the program. For this woman she needed vey structured meetings where people did not share their pain and feelings but their joy and path in recovery. For every one of her there is one person who will need to share their pain and without being welcome to do that will die from trying to numb that pain with alcohol. I'm 34 years sober in AA and find there are meetings for all available. Find what you need and stuck with it until you need something else and then find that. Trauma informed therapists with a deep understanding of addiction are not numerous. I'm glad she's found what she needed however let's not globalise our own needs into 'what everyone needs is... or AA should.." There is a clear researched corolation between trauma and addiction. Not saying for all but there is a connection.

Totally relatable material that not only strikes h the general area of recovery bad it well shoild but also grips potentially any even remotely alcoholic apprentice that might be able to appreciate what we are driving at here by inasmuchas spiritual principles are concerned This be summation of the program is. "Be a watcher of the thoughts" this will dissolve the ego. The ego's power will diminish, unfortunately it dos'nt stay quiet, but we are less and less affected by it. When we practice, just being the watcher.

Phenomenal share from somone who really hits the core of what recovery is about .. so very helpful .. I relapsed after 12 years then spent ten in the wilderness ... back coming up three years and its all about emotional sobriety .. what Bill Wilson talks about in regards dependence .. reminds me of what the Buddhists teach

Awesome talk! I am over 30 years sober and I never stop learning and growing. Hit the nail on the head on a lot of points for me and I am so grateful that I have an opportunity to continue to go to another phase in my development. I tend to stay away from medication comments and just let them go over my head because I absolutely have no idea what God's will is for somebody else's life. No clue. I was depressed in sobriety for a long time because I had stressed myself out so much and taxed my adrenals and needed medication to balance out my chemistry. But I stayed away from it far too long because I was thinking that I could 12 step my way into chemical balance. So I just really tend to stay away from any comment about why people are on medication. Simple observation alone isn't enough for me to assess the validity of it in anyone's personal situation.

"i don't believe there's anything in the third dimensional world that's going to treat my alcoholism". WHOA! So simply put, yet I feel like this encompasses the root of my emotional sobriety (or lack thereof, lol). Like, for me, it all boils down to THIS.

My sponsor suggested this workshop. Thank you for practicing 12th step here for me. But i have a beautiful mind that was trampled on by alcohol and alcoholics including me mostly me actually. I have hope today though....3.3 years sober but ? I dont wanna die dry of alcoholism either....

The ego only knows dualistic form. It's white or black its good or bad the ego only knows to judge or doubt. It helps us make sense of the human existence experience. Until we can become comfortable with the mystery of this spirit in human form.

A SPONSOR IS ANOTHER ALCOHOLIC. AND THEY ARE NOT GOD! THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO SPONSOR BUT, IF YOUR SPONSOR DOES NOT TAKE YOU THRU THE BIG BOOK PAGE FOR PAGE AND DOES NOT LONG TERM SOBRIETY.... I DON'T WANT WHAT THEY HAVE! STRUCTURE, AND DIRECTION, AND WE ARE NOT THERAPISTS OR DOCTORS, OR PSYCHOLOGIST... WE LEAVE THAT TO THE PROFESSIONALS.....
