I definitely agree that having air plumbed around the building is damn handy (helps that I used to sell & install such air systems 😉). A few external/outdoor air points doesn't hurt either (as well as outdoor power points). We have separate systems for each building, because it's easier than running more airline between the sheds. Good thinking on the sideways-over-the-pit trick. Might be worth your while making a dedicated set of plates for your small equipment, in case the jacking beams are in use further along the pit (as your pit is reasonably long, it would be quite possible for you to put more than one machine over the pit simultaneously if you plan it ahead of time). Whoever is filming you is a good, steady-handed camera operator. I can't see your new cow catcher working in the scrub paddocks, so I might have to give that one a miss.

Oh, and what have I been doing? I had to field replace a couple of hydraulic hoses the other day. Yay. I love changing hydraulic hoses on dirty equipment. Apart from that, more slashing along the access tracks. It's one of those jobs you do on the farm when there's nothing else to do.

Congratulations on getting to the top 5, let's hope you nail it. I like the idea of those oil tanks, only thing is ... the sight glasses look a bit exposed, I wouldn't fancy cracking them if the tanks were full, 900L of general purpose floor oil if someone accidentally drops something up against them, it may be an idea to cage them if possible. I love the tool area and the mix of old and new, you can never have too many hammers, they are everything from fine tuning to Brutus Maximus 😂

Enjoyed the vid, my only concern with bulk oil deliveries is there is more chance of an error being made by the supplier when filling your tanks. Wrong oil being put in the wrong tank, you have to put a lot of trust in the driver to select correct oil and not contaminate your tank. Nothing safer than to read the label on your 200 ltr barrel and pump it out. Also you can move the barrel easily to another location if reqd. I can see the advantages of bulk supply but not sure if my OCD would let me go that route.

When you say, 'build your own pit' I think you forgot to prefix it with 'If you have a digger'. Or a back hoe, of course. We did have a small pit on the farm, but it was hand dug, and pretty hard work. Ours was only lined with breeze blocks, and probably not particularly safe, now I think about it. You did a stellar job with yours, and I love that you designed it from scratch before starting. Or did you get your ideas from seeing other pits?

For those selection boxes of parts stacked under the beautifully tidied work bench clearly mark on the end that faces out what's in them. It saves having to pick each one up and read the top / look in them when you're busy working on something. The other thing I do with the blow moulded tool cases that some power tools (mainly the cheap ones) come in is clearly mark the top of the box so you don't open it upside down.
