Nice to see the front hull shipped from my hometown to Australia... My grandfather told me that there was a huge tank factory in Berlin-Reinickendorf. But actually they did not produce the Jagdpanther... Maybe they made parts of the hull. He also said that the tanks have been test driven down the streets after they came out of the factory. Greetings from Berlin Edit: I ask him one more time... He said that a factory in Potsdam produced parts of the Jagdpanther. Then they brought it to the factory in Berlin... He is 99 now... and still knows a lot of stuff from WW2. He served from 1941 - 1945 ... POW from '45 -'49

I'll never tire of seeing the amount of detailed work that goes into these restorations.

You think doing a fairly basic pig weld is "detailed work"?! Shit, you're easy to please.
@jb66682 жыл бұрын
@@iatsd The level of metal bashing and welding displayed in this video is unimportant. Its the process showing the work needed to turn what is essentially piles of scrap metal into a museum quality piece that is interesting to me.

@@Jamiehello1 You think that work was "detailed"? And please don't try the "Only if you do it" routine, cvnt features: *you* don't build tanks so you've got no fvking basis to complain about people's comments. Or did you not think the logic of your post through? Probably not. Thinking, let alone thinking ahead, are probably a bit much for you, aren't they?

Glad you're back. Thank you for the videos. If I can offer an observation. When the gentleman was discussing the machine gun mount and explaining the damage and how it installs. Focus on the part being discussed. He was explaining all this cool info, but there were just a couple quick shots of the mount itself.
@closeencounter072 жыл бұрын
I agree. When a worker is explaining what they are about to do and why, you have to point the camera at their hands, not their face. We don't need to watch their lips move, but we need to see what they are explaining. Don't point the camera at their face until after they are done explaining what is going to happen.

Actually drove by the Museum in July on our holiday, but our time schedule and democratic vote didn't allow us to visit. Wonderful work and great video's. Respect! Made me even look at videos on welding. While I fundamentally non technical. Fascinating that metal is still so much workable. I wrote a book on gliders at Arnhem (Netherlands) during Market Garden (NO RETURN FLIGHT). Only tanks there were captured French Renault tanks.The airbornes knocked them all out or made them retreat. Incomprehensibly courageous. Isn;t this tank restauring very expensive?

Always interesting videos of these restorations not sure if that is the right word for this type of work that you do, only to say i love the reconstruction of these beautiful vehicles and yeah i know these were made for war and destruction, but now they serve to educate new generations mans creative engineering of over 70 years ago. i as like most people hate killing and war these machines do acquire an aesthetic appreciation despite the evil purposes they were originally created for conquering of Europe.

well, minus certain powertools like modern angle grinders or modern welding equipment like welders with internal feed, there has not much changed in respect to tools. The Maintenance Units had even so called "StraBoKran" - Straßen Bock Kran (Street Ramp Crane), mobile crane gantries with enough lift capability to lift the upper hull of a tiger.
