Oh. It's a motorcycle engine. Cool. Looks like an art sculpture when assembled.

Outstanding . This BMW R60/5 was a very interesting and educative series . You are not just a maticulate and careful mechanic , but also a good teacher . I saw every episode and understood almost everything . Am i correct as to still expect a video with the finished product completely assembled and see the motorcycle result riding ? I hope so . Good job , and thanks . With respect , Erwin , Belgium .

This was probably one of the best videos on setting up not just the BMW final drive assembly, but for gear alignment for this type of gearing such as any differential ring and pinion gear. Beautiful video, editing and narration. Also, making the custom tools was a big plus 👍🏻

Thank you so much for your kind words! It's great to hear that you found the video informative and well-made. Creating custom tools certainly makes the process smoother, and I'm glad that aspect was appreciated. Keep enjoying your DIY projects! Regards Andreas

Thank you for your wonderful feedback! It's quite a challenge to condense over 3 hours of video made up of 500 separate clips into a concise, informative format. My videos tend to be lengthy due to the multitude of important details that require showcasing or explanation. I try to deliver the highest quality possible with the resources available to me. Through the process of editing and video creation, I've already gained valuable insights and skills, and I'm eager to continue learning and enhancing my creativity. Your ongoing support means a lot, Steve! Best regards, Andreas.

I‘m glad you enjoyed this video, Jeff! Even though this assembly seems very intricate on video, I’m sure once the parts are in front of you, you‘ll find it easier to work on. Thanks for the support😃👍🏼

I’m glad you enjoyed this one too!😃 The R60/5 will come together in the next few weeks and I will start to focus on the body & paint work. Once completed the final touches will need some attention😊 Thank you for your support! Regards Andreas

I don't want to know how many time you spend on it ! Your bike will be more than brand new after all !!

Another really excellent video, Andreas. Workshops with the ability to do this stuff are now few and far between, and for the individual rider, for whom this is likely to be a one-time repair, it would be difficult to justify the expenditure on tools and the time it takes to develop the skills involved. My hope is that out of all the people watching, one or two will perhaps be inspired to get set up and look towards taking on this kind of work. On another note, when are we going to see the finished machine?

When this bike is finished I think you should put Rolls Royce badges on it. Both Rolls Royce and BMW will be honoured due to your craftmanship and engineering skills.

The vintage Rolls Royce from the same era as this bike was the epitome of luxury and elegance. It would hold great significance for me if I could make that a reality! While one continues to thrive in the world of aviation, the other has a storied legacy in that field. Maybe one day I’ll find a Rolls Royce to work on…you never know😁🔧

Great Video!! Thanks - you mention using an undersized bearing to avoid needing to heat the case during shim calculation. Did you custom grind or buy? If bought can you provide source / partnumber?
@WorkshopRebuild
@WorkshopRebuild 5 ай бұрын
I've precision ground the old bearing! So, when you're swapping out the old bearing, keep it handy as a custom tool for future projects 😎 This is highly beneficial since both old and new bearings have identical widths, ensuring the pinion gear stays aligned for future installations. Remember, heat and extraction should only happen once because using slide hammers or other extractors on a new bearing could potentially cause damage. I hope this helps😃👍🏼 Regards Andreas

What size arbor press is needed to rebuild both the final drive and transmission?
@WorkshopRebuild
@WorkshopRebuild 5 ай бұрын
Hi Keith, I have a No3 arbor press and it works for both the final drive and the transmission. The No2 will probably work for the pressing force, but the No3 offers more space to work. Something I prefer especially when making custom pressing tools. I hope this helps.

@@WorkshopRebuild Thanks, that very helpful. I assume you make a lot of the special tooling you use - you should consider making and selling them. I'd love one of those engine stands.
