Kubota V2203 Governor/Throttle Springs

Thank you for the great video! I have a Kubota v2203 swap in my Jeep Cherokee Sport 2001. It was my Best Friend David's and he passed away, so I'm finishing the project. I'm working on the throttle cable right now. It's difficult and the throttle kit for the Jeep/Kubota is $300. I'm trying to create on with the parts he bought before he passed. It looks like he was trying to make one like the kit that's for sale, but the parts are all custom. One day I'll get this figured out. I just do NOT want to spend $300 for a throttle kit. Thank you very much for your feedback! I'm sorry for your loss, but I believe the Jeep is in great hands. If it's not too intricate, you should be able to figure it out. There must be some pictures online of the original. Maybe a custom throttle cable will even be an improvement! $300 is very steep for a throttle cable in my opinion. Maybe you can score something good online or possibly find a parts car nearby. I hope it works out for your Jeep and Kubota V2203! Best regards and thank again :D

@@WorkshopRebuild Thank you for the encouraging words. It's been a long road to getting this Jeep up to Colorado and getting it running. I have the stock throttle cable for the Jeep still in the engine bay. It works when you move the pedal back and forth. I'll need to figure out how to mount the cable. Do you have a facebook page? @@WorkshopRebuild I ran into a problem. The small spring has a loop on both ends instead of like the one you have. So right after I installed both of them, the big spring popped out of the slot and so did the small spring. Then they both popped off the lever (it was like a guitar string...*twang!*), and then they all dropped into the case. I managed to recover the lever and the big spring, but the small spring dropped way down between the outside case and the cam shaft. Have you ever had this happen to you? Can you tell me what I might be able to do to find and recover the small spring? I tried a magnet, but it won't go down far enough into the case. Also, what is that stuff you painted on the gasket? Why did you use it? Isn't the gasket good enough? Thanx...

@@chriscadman5715 Hi Chris, It sucks to read what happened to your springs! I actually haven't encountered this situation, because the two V2203 engines I rebuilt used the exact same springs as in this video and they did not fall out until this day! If you want to recover the spring that has fallen down into the cover area, I would suggest you find a steel wire or maybe even a coat hanger and magnetize the end. If the tip is just a little bit magnetized you should be able to recover this spring without much trouble. To reinstall these springs it's hard to say if they will sit properly. Maybe you can slightly bend the bigger one just to make sure it doesn't fall out again. I used just a little bit of grease on one gasket and under the other cover, I used a gasket maker. If you think your surfaces are perfectly flat, then a gasket should be enough. I hope this helps! Regards Andreas

@@WorkshopRebuild Thanx for your speedy reply, Andreas! If I use a wire, I'm afraid it will push the spring further under the cam shaft. Do you know if I ill be able to see everything if I remove the injection pump? It's a Kubota engine on a Bobcat 773.

You can test it on the other spring you took out before if the wire is magnetized enough. I know it's a tight area...but I'd really try that first. That is a possibility, but you would have to take the injection pump gear off and time it after you put it back on. I'm not sure if all that work is needed. Give the wire a try, it can only fall about 8-12 inches from the surface from where you install them. Let me know if you manage to get it out! Cheers

I have Kubota v2203 it is perfect except for I have to give it half throttle to start it is there some type of adjustment so where I can start it at low throttle Idol throttle

Hi Tony, great question! Around minute 08:09 you can see two large bolts that are close to the throttle linkage. These two bolts can be adjusted to your liking. One bolt is for your idle and the other bolt is for your highest engine rpm speed. Once you're done adjusting it, make sure to tighten down the nuts. I hope this helps, Regards Andreas

Hello, yes there is an adjustment on the front of the injector pump. There is a cover plate with two adjustment screws which will activate your throttle. Below this cover there is a threaded pin with enongated nuts that lock together. This pin follows through onto an arm which will allow you to adjust your governed speed. You can adjust this to your desired rpm. I hope this helps! Best regards

Great question! I'm not sure if Kubota recently changed or stopped producing certain springs. I am aware that Kubota V2203 had an "older style and newer style". This V2203 is back from the '80s and I purchased parts accordingly. With that said, they may have changed numbers since! I purchased these parts locally at "Frontier Power Products". The governor has excatly 3 springs for the V2203! There is no set, you need to order them separately. Small spring is: 19818-56480 Medium Spring: 17182-56426 Large Spring: 1A023-56417 I hope this helps, Best Regards!

Dear Sir, I have a kabuta engkne 2203 same model as you are showing the video. My engine rpm is nkt stable on load, and without load, it is also not stable. When i adjust the speed from screw the speed is adjusted, and after the load, it will go down. DIESEL PUMP IS NEW AND INJECTORS IS NEW

There could be many issues. You might have an issue with your governor that is id sticky and/or it has bad springs. Another issues could be within your cylinder head. Your valves might not be sealing properly, given you all kinds of engine imbalance when firing.

i'M IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS AND i'M STUCK...mine is a Kubota V2003T .so it is slightly different..mine dose not have the coiled spring on the square "STOP" plate to pull to stop position ....I have a hole with just a spring (old style before yours) have no clue were that spring connects...help.

Hi David, I'm sorry to hear your issues! Your engine is very similar to this one, it might just have a different timing cover and a smaller displacement. Either way, the governor springs will ALWAYS pull on the linkages within the governor/injection pump. Stop is activated by a lever that you engage and the springs hooked up to that will be on the opposite side. The spring is either hooked up to a pin with a small hole or a bolt internally. You will probably have an issue with your governor. If any of these springs are missing or if they are just old, you will have an engine that does not idle properly or an engine that does not start. Cheers
