Really well made video, glad you were able to go into the code as almost nobody besides a few high rounders/speedrunners in the waw community actually understood how the health system worked on all maps. Hopefully this video can get out there and teach people as well as debunk theories :)

It’s nice to fully understand why the Wunderwaffe did what it did on Der Riese and see how easily it could have been fixed. I also now know why the hellhounds on Shi No Numa could still easily kill me even with Jug, I had no idea they nerfed the health regen on dog rounds.

I've only recently learned that Verrukt and Shi No Numa had different Jugg scripts after a DECADE of playing Zombies and I always wondered by the Waffe glitch was even a thing on Der Riese and not Shi No Numa. Going over the scripts was dope asf, keep up the good work!

Awesome video. I always thought the PaPed wunderwaffe did more damage, think i got that from some wiki. But it's great to see a deep dive on it and you were great at explaining for someone who knows nothing about code

Surely this must be the doing of rogue code that sets the max health to whatever the health is defined from GSC scripts. It'd make sense too because the zombies don't do this, they rely on a weapon to hit you, the damage they deal is based from within the engine, same as any other bullet weapon, or hurt triggers from traps.

Next video should be explaining the way zombies moved in Nacht der Untoten and why Treyarch decided to change it so they slap you while running.

that can kinda be automatically assumed it's because you can essentially microstall zombies and make yourself impossible to hit if the zombies have to stop to hit you. Simply get near enough to them to stop them and charge up their hit, then back away, then move in again. It would be interesting to compare overall all the movement and even zombie behavior differences across maps, for example Shi No Numa has unique zombie animations never used in any map ever again (besides Black Ops Shi No Numa).

@@queuedjar4578 I kind of liked that mechanic better than what they did in future games. That AI could still be challenging with super sprinters and a relatively tight map layout. The challenge is more in not getting cornered than letting zombies close to you. Played a bunch of custom maps that had this and they were fun as hell.

its the hit animations. they dont have stop -> then decide to hit you, it's just that every time a hit anim plays the zombie stops running during it. but after nacht they added more hit animations where the lower body could keep sprinting. they also added variants that would have 2 swipes so you could get hit faster

I knew it! I always thoght dogs in shi no numa messed with our health regen somehow, you were the first that confirmed it for me. Another question, are we able to look at the code for Black Ops 2? If we are, would you be able to datamine how exactly the ranking system works in BO2 zombies? That was always a mistery for the entire community i guess.

All i know we know is the vague zielinsky tweet of it being rounds/downs, even then we don't know which R/Ds would grant you each rank and that wouldn't help at all as total rounds is one of the few statistics we don't have in BO2 zombies combat record. Knowing his tweet is very different from knowing the exact proccess and numbers.

Well I have BO1 with all the WAW maps so why pay to play effectively worse versions of maps I already have. Other than BO1 doesn't have every weapon from WAW. But now with these glitches being fixed I'd be willing to buy WAW.

Great video never knew all this. Explains that one time on WAW Verruckt nearly completely cornered and took like 9 hits as I squeezed my way out and explains the confusion I’ve had about the Wunderwaffe in Shi no Numa vs Der Riese I disagree about the Wunderwaffe in Der Riese not being intentional. WAW is the OG gritty “big boy” Zombies. When you load it up you’re never in a complete comfort zone like the others bc you know how easily you can get caught and die since there’s no revive. Since the Wunderwaffe was so powerful in Shi no Numa they likely nerfed it for Der Riese. Der Riese is harder than Shi no Numa in general layout wise and it being the first solo map to have more than 24 zombies per round. There’s no way they didn’t notice this while test running and they could have patched it at any point. The reason WAW Zombies is less popular isn’t just because WAW sold less, it’s also because it’s harder. Like you said ppl complain about the WAW Der Riese Wunderwaffe, they complain because they’re pussies who want things to be easy. Don’t get me wrong in terms just having fun with it I do wish the health reduction wasn’t permanent but the concept of it being high risk high reward I enjoy. Also this downside isn’t as big a deal in co op because you can just get revived and rebuy Jug which is probably what they had more in mind with co op being more popular than solo

It’s not a debate, it was a bug. Why wasn’t it on shi no numa? Why wasn’t it on bo1? Why didn’t they change the max health value in the code if they wanted to do this effect? Why didn’t they remove the Jug HUD icon? Did you not grasp the fact that the code for the effect is 1:1 the same on black ops, yet it doesn’t do the bug? The code literally subtracts current health and makes NO mention of changing a players maximum health, yet it still does. That is a bug.

@@JBShady You explained why it’s in Shi no Numa code wise and Shi no Numa came before Der Riese. They nerfed it in response to Shi no Numa. It’s not in future titles because they had a different vision for WAW vs the BO titles. Compare Wunderwaffe to the Thundergun, which holds your hand more and kills more Zombies? Kino and Ascension are 2 of the easiest maps and both are among the first maps for BO. FIVE was harder and less popular. I think you’re too caught up in a premise reliant on assumptions about what the code means about the devs intent. It doesn’t matter how the code works if it gets them the results they desire want. To believe it is unintentional we have to believe they somehow play tested the wonder weapon and didn’t figure this out and then still didn’t fix it for no reason afterwards. I might even grant you that it initially could have been a glitch they discovered based off inconsistency within the code and they just stuck with it. The only reason I debate about this is because there’s often this narrative that designing the weapon to be high risk high reward is innately bad design, labeling it as a glitch is basically just motivated reasoning to pretend it’s “objectively” bad design when in reality like I said people are just pussies and want the game to be easier. All the most popular maps are the easier ones and most of the least popular are the harder, the game got progressively easier from WAW to BO3 (judging difficulty by how likely you are to die if you had infinite time before killing x amount of zombies, not by round count)

@@JBShady Lol dude don’t call me dumb when you can’t even comprehend the simple concept that code doesn’t automatically equate to the intent of the devs 🤡 you don’t have any counter arguments to the other points I made because there aren’t any 🤡🤡🤡. Your premise IS reliant on an assumption, the assumption that code=we’re reading the mind of real people. I literally said I wouldn’t even be surprised if initially the design wasn’t intentionally but became their vision for the game. And again my main point in arguing about this is that whether it’s a glitch or not it isn’t objectively bad design. If the devs literally said it was a glitch and they couldn’t fix it for whatever reason I wouldn’t be surprised but the alternative I’m suggesting is also very possible. Always hilarious how butthurt people get (for no reason) when someone challenges their flawed perceived notions

It’s such a huge shame that all that love and effort went into this mode and a key feature doesn’t work that could be fixed in seconds… I know they have no motivation to but I really wish someone at Treyarch could do a tiny patch for console players that can’t fix this manually!

Nice shady, also, i have a question about the mod. Is it true that verruckt had a special round planned ? Cause we have the special dog round music. It was "lost" and we put it into bo1 renaissance mod.

Yeah they planned to put dogs on Verruckt but they probably didn't have enough time or decided to save them for shi no numa

Verruckt dogs would have been fucky. I'm pretty sure no one would be have been able to make it past round 5 since there's no where to hide from them and no open places to shoot them while they come for you.

In black ops 1 if you shoot the wunder waffle a bunch of times at your feet you get red screened but don't die also sometimes you can survive 2 hits from a zombie in black ops 1 with out jug

Took you 5 secs to fix it... guess the developers were in a really tight crunch befoe MW2 released... One thing that i think would have been cool to mention too was the change in raygun splash damage (or general splash damage) on der riese, in the prior maps it could kill you instantly even with jug.

yep, but its not just a matter of time, its probably that they didnt notice and back in the day ig updates were less common so they would only do them if there were major changes. I dunno. As for spalsh damage id save that for another video, maybe a vid on how weapons changed between maps?

Combine that with the fact that clipping through zombies is really common and verruckt zombies also took a little while longer to hit you and yeah you can just luck out in situations where you should be toast.

I believe it depends on dogs, zombie health only increases on non dog rounds so it’s slightly different every game

Question I was thinking while watching this. If it works fine on shi no numa and doesn't glitch, couldn't you have just taken the same coding from shi no numa and posted it in the der riese coding?

Glad you asked, this is a good question which i could’ve made a little more clear , but remember that the PvP code that causes this bug IS the same on both maps. The thing is, the way Jug works and the way the health system is just glitchy, it acts a “perfect” counter measure and allows you to bypass the effects of the bugs on shi no numa. On shi no numa your max health DOES get stuck, BUT, the jug function adds to your health which counter acts it and so you don’t even know! Think of it like the bug was always there but you only can notice it on der riese

I dont know but if you play Der Riese at Thursdays all zombies hit a little more, what i mean is on other Day you get hit without Jugg, your screen is normal, but only in Thursdays, your screen is red, like you are near death, and i said my BFF when we were young, and he didnt noticed. I noticed when i was looking at the boars when you press reload button eveybody groans. The same board has a calendar and ONLY Thursdays are circule in red I would like to know WHY only Thursdays in DER RIESE happens this Maybe you have already said it or not but, i want to know Why this "secret" difficulty was like this Sorry for my Long coment

Ah, that's interesting. Always knew it existed and it's unceremoniously ended quite a few games of mine, but I never knew how it worked. Also, question, I think I found a drop trick on WAW Der Riese. I've done this 3 times in a row, and it cannot work on BO1. Play as normal, knifing on round 1, repairing 4 barriers, round 2, fire 8 shots and knife, then, the second you're out of ammo, kill a zombie and you'll get a drop. Usually it's a max ammo but it could be anything. It can only be done while the "no ammo" quote is being said.

@@greasinplays You just have to type "health_hud 1" into your console and restart map, it's more of a dev command because i personally dont prefer it, thats why its not in my custom menus

@@JBShady does exactly what i wanted and the other options are also quite nice ESPECIALLY the der riese waf glitch fix been a real pain for almost 15 years and finally i can enjoy der riese without that annoying waf bug thanks a ton for that!

Can you please upload mod that allows you to revive yourself on Der Rise and other official maps? I checked your mod link but it does too much changes to the gameplay and visual altering, it just doesn't feel authentic anymore.

@@JBShady ironically I just suggested similar thing on steam forum where I first found about your mod, and title of the thread pretty much suggest only crucial bugfixes and nothing over the top like balance changes and graphics change. I bet many people would feel appalled by how you decided to turn the game in to something completely different than they get used to, especially with weapons nerfs that you introduce and the noticeable graphical change of the maps, this is why I feel a lite version would be welcome by many people while main mod still being updated. Speaking of which, I hope you still have plans to buff flamethrower so fast reload and speedy firerate perks actually affect it, please?

​ @Jitterskull I am completely put off by any comment you write because of how disrespectful you come across, spamming demands on my steam profile, youtube comments, and threads, where you go so far as to try to discredit my mod by calling it "appalling" and suggesting that I am making "dramatic" graphical and balance changes when really, if you took just 1 second to improve your reading comprehension, you'd probably agree with 95% of my changes. In fact, you are suggesting that I drastically buff the flamethrower by making it both shoot faster and do more damage, yet you have the audacity to act like me tweaking bugs, errors, and inconsistencies in weapon files are some major "dramatic" changes. No, making the 357 have an even amount of ammo so the ammo is divisible by 6 is not a dramatic change. No, tweaking the vision file and updating the weapon models with *stock* higher-resolution Singleplayer models are not "dramatic" visual changes. Also, no, my original thread said "no crazy changes or weapons," but it DID say I am setting out to "improve the gameplay." This was never meant be a just "fix one bug and call it a day mod." I have not added any crazy new weapons from other COD games, this is a faithful remaster mod that sticks to WaW assets and Waw/Treyarch/Bo1 style gameplay; each map still has the same high round strats and they play very similar.

@@JBShady Personally I believe the vanilla weapon balance is the best (minus the wunderwaffe bug, of course), so I can see why some people get upset after their guns get nerfs even if small. Please don't bully them just for making a suggestion you don't like, in your thread you yourself ask for suggestions from people.

@Arch-Vile I don’t care dude - it's not correct to say I changed "the" weapon balance meta when 99% of what I did was fix weapon errors and glitches. There's literally 2 "nerfs", the *un-upgraded* MG42 has 600 instead of 625 ammo, and the M1 Carbine has lower damage than the Garand, but it now has higher mobility. Oh my god the 25 bullets, let me go stalk his Steam profile and demand he makes a different version just for me! If you disagree with my mod then please leave a respectful suggestion like many others have done, but do not spam me across all of my profiles requesting that I make a “custom version” for them when I’ve already said no, while also referring to my hard work as being “appalling” to people that enjoy WaW. Not only is that inconsiderate behavior (which you're defending), but they're not even suggestions when you ask me to cut 90% of the mod. The stupidity and entitlement in this thread is shocking.

Like I show in the video the fix is just to write like 2 new lines of code but I doubt they did that, I know they have a DVAR for it g_fix_tesla_bug so it probably just disables the pvp damage

I prefer cod waw but controlling bo1 is too much better .. I love cod waw guns There are too many problems in cod waw .. in bo1 there is not any glitch . I remember I was playing cod waw and I loved it but my brother sold this game . On ps3

Bo1 has MANY bugs, like the wonder weapon fails or even the wunderwaffe bug on COTD that ends all highround (post ~r85) games (or forces a down)
