Several nations called for de-escalation after Israel’s reported strikes on Iran. Israel’s western allies including UK, France, Germany and Italy urged both sides to exercise caution. United Nations and China condemned the apparent Israeli attack. “Israel's latest strikes on Iran are another violation of the prohibition on the use of military force under international law & the UN Charter, and threaten the human right to life,” said Ben Paul, UN Special Rapporteur On Counterterrorism & Human Rights.

Due to internal pressures, Israel had to make a response to the 300 + drones, BUT it's scope was so minuscule that it could actually be be considered a "deescalation". It could also be thought of as a provocation to trap Iran into a "disproportionate" response from Iran, thus blurring the narrative that Iran acted in a strategically limited non-escalatory manner. Iran did not fall into the trap. Consider it a narcissistic "handshake" closing the episode. The narcissist has to have the last word! Let him have it and close the episode.

I would not be in the fray personally, just an armchair observer. So from my point of view, I think after circa 76 years of conflict between Israelis and Palestinians without resolution, resorting to war may be the only viable resolution at this point. If the US wants to come in and fight Iran as they did Iraq, Libya, and Syria -- and now Ukraine in a proxy war -- then let them have at it. Maybe China and Russia will come in on the side of iran. Clinton, Bushes, Obama and now Biden have reduced everything to war, so why not Israel v Iran now? As W Bush said, 'let's get it on.'
