Ben, very interesting talk. I know you don't really care for maintained lead, but could you do a short on that method too.

You're right, negative lead has never crossed my mind. So, yes, inconsistent results. Makes a load of sense. Funnily enough, I haven't heard about this from any coach..... says it all. Thanks for these videos.

Very good info. How does the swing through method equate to more distant birds like 40 to 50 yards?

You have talked many times about the gun speed affecting the lead. I am very new to this and don't quite get how the gun speed affects the lead. In my head it is either that you are 'throwing the pattern forward' or it is your perception of lead. i.e. clay x will always be hit with y lead. If your running the gun faster you need to react sooner as the perception of lead comes up quicker. I don't expect an answer but a link to a video that explains the relationship between different gun speeds and lead on the same clay would be smashing.

@@devallish If I may dare to answer here, cause I was also looking for an explanation and seem to have found it in Peter F. Blakeley book “Successful Shotgunning”. In a nutshell, between the moment you decide to pull the trigger and the moment the pellets actually leave the barrels there is a delay (shooter reaction time mainly). Depending on gun speed, this delay will translate into more or less additional lead (built-in lead) to the perceived lead you see when you decide to pull the trigger. So for a given target, if you go faster for instance, you need a smaller perceived lead (the moment you decide to pull the trigger) to account for a greater built-in lead.
