These are some of the games we want to see from Ding. So focus, so sharp yet so lethal. However, Hikaru took a lot of risk thinking that he can make easy work of Ding, not knowing that Ding still have some fight left in him. If Ding had played like this in earlier games, this tournament would have been a lot more exciting.

Ding played solid so Hikaru tried to scare him into a blunder with his time advantage but Ding stayed calm and was compensated. In fairness to Hikaru though, a draw would be a win for Ding in this format so he is forced as white, to force an advantage before going into the endgame where it would be a draw unless he flagged Ding.

Hikaru defeated praggnanandha but got defeated by Ding Liren while Ding couldnt beat pragg at all, so this all comes to the fact that chess at grandmaster level isnt superiority of your mind anymore, it all depends on focus since the calculation is still above the rest or 99% but just that youre a super gm your focus is needed to win since people can get distracted in these type of super critical games.
