Because it's not a good spectator sport. think about how unpopular road cycling is compared to the mainstream sports. and then erase all the terrain changes which make for exciting races and the scenery. you have two people ride in circles in steady pace. i'm not trashing the sport, it's just not made for mainstream. on the contrary bobsled is somehow somehwat popular, which is just wild to me.

If he had been on bread and water, would he have won at least a couple of olymp golds more ( and not only the team pursuit at Tokio ), 2 or 3 individual world titles and another couple of Tours de France, as the Great Britain's feeded lads have been doing since 2008 till today... But Ganna is from Italy, a country where doping rules are stringent and controls are made seriously and not for fake as in majority of countries, that's why we take no lesson from anybody !!🤫

You mean 20 years ago? Progression of Training/Aero - The cda is much lower than before. Training is better. Power is probably in the region of 550-580 which means a cda of 0.18 would give a speed of 60kmh. Boardman was probably a similar power(530-550?), but less aero, and maybe less trained for higher anaerobic. I'm just guessing.
@ilanpi
@ilanpi 4 жыл бұрын
@@Tuney888 It's more aero, bigger gears (and the training to be able to use them) and more power in Ganna's case (600+ Watts). Even the 2016 omnium riders were faster than dedicated pursuiters from 20 years ago.
@Tuney888
@Tuney888 4 жыл бұрын
@giuseppe mostini Well... it's up to you if you think it's something like that, I think it's pretty clear that 20 years of better training, better tech and better picking of a talent pool would do the trick... #Science!

@pauli6570
@pauli6570 4 жыл бұрын
john pontes absolutely an ignorant question. Records have been tumbling in most sports the last 20 years, and a lot of it is down to huge advancements in technology, with cycling particularly benefiting from it. Just look at Boardman’s “aero” helmet and Obree’s homemade bike....the drag coefficient today is hugely improved saving a sh!tload of watts. Factor into that the fact that Boardman never saw the inside of a windtunnel, and Obree had to finance himself.......

@@nofascistsonmywatch I don't know if Ganna could be faster or slower than Ashton in Mexico, Aguacalientes. As Ganna is only 25, I don't think he's interested in the record. I point out that at 2000 meters the air's thin and the speed higher than at sea level. Mexico City '68 docet. Nothing else...
@nofascistsonmywatch

@@ciapaci OF COURSE it is, otherwise everyone and their great grand aunties would not go THERE to set every record in the books. you should know that Italy is one of the countries where there are the strictest rules for doping. What you say reminded me of when Armstrong beat Pantani in the Col Ventoux stage. I thought there is something wrong here. He was almost out of breath. The difference let me tell you is that armstrong was a mediocre runner who turned into an alien. Ganna is a champion. The other difference is that Armstrong humiliated a certain Pantani ... Lambie who the fuck is he?

@@TheSportsman1977 I remember when in the early '70s, we thought that a 4:45 world record was BLAZINGLY quick. I guess when one considers the 51x15 gears they were riding, NO AERO WHATSOEVER (radial front spoking was about it, flat wheel rims, and a track jersey tucked into WOOL shorts, leather hairnet helmet LOL), less specific training with NO weight work at all, and primitive nutrition, it WAS 'blazingly fast'. ;)
