Comparing the splits between this world record and Great Britain's in 2012, there's no comparison. 1k Den-1:00.9 GB-1:02.5 2k Den-1:54.6 GB-1:58.4 3k Den-2:49.6 GB-2:54.7 4k Den-3:44.6 GB-3:51.6 Then consider that New Zealand was decimated in this race and they were still 1.9 seconds faster than the GB world record.

@@jacobjacobsen2798 Please they raced on a concrete outdoor velodrome that was 333m long and banked 33 degrees on the bends. Given the same track, weather conditions and modern cycling gear they would be right behind todays riders if not in front. Back then no EPO but blood doping was legal - USA team. For the Olympics steroids were out of control - 68/72/76/80/84. Then Ben Johnson 88 admitted that he had been using them for 9 years.

They have said that they kept the good stuff hidden until the olympics, like the new suits, so others wouldn't have time to do the same as them.
