Awesome puzzle! I have one suggestion for the app. The color white isn’t needed because you can “Delete” the color to get no highlighting, so there’s room for one more useful highlighting color. That would allow this puzzle to use a different color for every block.

I think my favorite part of the puzzle was the zero in the upper right coming into play at the very end. The whole top-right compass gave no information the entire solve until the last second when it finished everything off

This was definitely harder than the previous compass puzzle you posted, but not by terribly much. Solved in 11:22. I started with the incredibly limited bottom right two clues, and the two directly above the central clue. Using heavy restrictions from those 4 clues made figuring out the central clues basic route very quick to see, and a couple remaining limiting factors made the 7s route and possibilities pretty fixed as well. I think Simon being so brilliant and noticing (so quickly into the puzzle) that the 7 had to wrap around the grid actually hindered him a bit here. But as always I appreciate him taking the time to explain his thought processes.

This puzzle is a great example of why white should not be one of the colours on the keypad
@Sianistic5 жыл бұрын
Didn't quite know how to get started, but by solving along the beginning I cracked it at ~15minutes after appreciating the general shape of the central square and that the '7' needed to be on both sides (i knew that it should probably hug the edge of the grid all the way around since there probably wouldn't be anything getting beyond it)

Love these! Got it in about 10. The tough nut to crack is to realize the "_seven_ area" must be split up. You could have completed the perimeter logic on the "_seven_ area" much, much earlier. With it filled in, the rest of the puzzle is a breeze. (I'm confident just mentioning it is enough for you to understand why, but I'll type out some of my reasoning below anyway). As soon as you know the _seven_ won't fit, a quick scan reveals that no other region can "wrap" around it (and touch the perimeter while still allowing the _seven_ to reach the bottom right), which in turn means *row 8, column 9* must belong to the _seven_ . *R9c9* & *r9c8* are still unclear at that point, but it should become apparent very shortly that we're looking for 2 _sevens_ on the right side (and 5 on the left), making *r9c9* the only option.

My "official" time was 8:08, but I didn't launch the app until well after you started. Specifically, right after you pointed out the purple perimeter restriction, which is what blew the puzzle open for me. Great video!

@studio.kaedinger5 жыл бұрын
Took me about 7 or 8 minutes. I started at the same hint as Simon and got the middle area almost immediately figured out. Took me a minute to realize the 7 is split, but finding the perimeter was easier than made clear in Simon's explanation. From there it almost fell in place (the lone 6 was too easy), I just fiddled around the lower middle a bit.

I don't know, that was kinda easy... about 10min. There was some assumption on my part, but the wrap-around from the 0/0/0/7 felt immediately apparent.

-/-/-/7 really, since the zero means zero That was the last part I got so I'm not sure I agree it's instantly apparent, but yeah these aren't a very hard style of puzzle, just good clean fun
@DrZaius31415 жыл бұрын
@@shane8037 Yeah, sorry, my bad. But with the centre bit having 5 in the south and only 4 to the west so it can't crawl down and 3/2/1/- bit having 3 to the west that are forced to be southern, you can quickly see - or feel as I put it - that the south-west corner just doesn't have enough space for -/-/-/7 to fill it's quota.
@Czeckie5 жыл бұрын
really nice puzzle. Took me nearly 20mins, but most of the time I've spent panicking after I realized the "seven" region can reach over the field and I wasn't able to disprove the possibility. Turns out that was a misguided effort.

I had the bulk of the logic completed in seven minutes flat, largely by abusing the uniqueness requirement to reject possibilities and using some heuristics that aren't precisely forced (like assuming that the 1-up area doesn't go out of its way to block the center). My Sudoku times are typically 4x as long as 'par',

Right after seeing the first compass video, I made one myself. A month later, I found that it's a fairly neat puzzle if I may say so. I do think it's simpler than the one in this video, but I'd love some feedback. Nobody gave it a go last time, but I'll try again: prnt.sc/o2ds97 It's in image form, but it should still be easy to solve digitally (via good old MS Paint, for example).
