I can't believe they still got 3rd at NCA with all those falls. I remember years when Smoed would be out of the top 3 with close to no mistakes. It's really sad that the season ended prematurely, especially for the seniors, but hey, there's always Reckless and TNT to come back to. And as for Reckless, I hope that as many athletes as possible come back for next year, because that team had too many Smoed legends cheering together to let it go to waste and not see them compete at Worlds.

Tamia got accepted to Navaro Cheer. I don't think Eddie looks at the talent that most of the cheerleaders have. I think he likes playing it safe, back in the 2013 and 2014 he did put a lot of the harder skills into his routines and now he doesn't.

Right? She’s better off at Navarro. She was upset bc a stunt fell and she let her emotions out. It happens. To be fair. That girls stunt always screws up. It’s like the fourth time. And she has no consequences. I’d be pissed as hell too lol seems inconsistent. Some kids fuck up and get cut instantly but some kids mess up several times and get praised. It just sends the wrong message. Be consistent across the board. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I am miserable and so sad for all Worlds cheerleaders not being able to compete this year :( I'm sad I'm not at a Worlds streaming sleepover, watching my friends and club compete, cheering them on. I'm devastated I'm not training in the gym right now, working towards '21 Worlds for the first time. Hoping desperately to be back soon. I have to say that I admire Treslei. Not only for being there for her sister but just her toughness and strength. To be taken off teams and switched out that many times while continuing to come back and try again while maintaining such a positive attitude says a lot. I agree, they were both great fits at Top Gun, but they never quite clicked in the Cali routines. The two of them were consistently the weakest links on their respective teams. Luckily, they're young, so they can continue learning and growing. With more practice, they'll 100% be ready for these teams. They'll get there!

Honestly though in my opinion this is probably why the program haven't done as well these last few years because they keep making roster changes so frequently. I'm an athlete myself and it's very hard to adjust stunts and routines with new members.

Jazmyne Davis totally agree with you that roster changes are harder to adapt to than keeping roster. HOWEVER if your current roster just isn’t working after 6-7months, and you don’t change it, it becomes frustrating for everyone. speaking from personal experience. i resented my coaches (who have coached me for three years) for not changing anyone in my stunt when we had plenty opportunities to do so and getting told to "bear with it bc we only had 1 month left before our last competition" as if we hadn’t had problems from the very beginning of season

aww 😭😭 when i saw that worlds was officially cancelled yesterday i was so upset- not even for me but also for all of the athletes, especially seniors and super seniors i totally get why they had to cancel but it just hurts knowing that a virus ruined their career but apparently varsity is having their summit event be at the end of june if disney is open by then (which it probably won’t be) and all teams can go (even worlds teams) so ig some people will have that opportunity but it’s just so unsafe atp so idk how to feel about it

Aaliyah because i’ve been a cheerleader my whole entire life, yes it takes 4 people to put up a stunt i have plenty of experience but when someone tells you to do something over and over again and you don’t do it or choose to not listen because you think the rest of your stunt group can do it and just put you into position it doesn’t work like that. i had a team mate in a stunt group my sophomore year of high school she was the main bass, she didn’t try, she didn’t practice or want to practice the stunt with us, she was told over and over again and it took one time for her to not have her hand in the right place after right before telling her to put it in the right place for me to fall over her (she didn’t catch me) and i fell onto my knee and completely ruined it and i haven’t been able to jump or stunt sense. she got kicked off the team, if she doesn’t listen to what others are telling her then she will also cause a serious injury. she may want to be on the team really bad but she doesn’t put the effort and i think someone who would put the effort in should be in her spot

I still think that orby should have talked to the people he cut in private or at least to the side (even as a group) than in front of the whole team. They been there at the gym & They give that respect to everyone else they cut or change it seems but did these in front of everyone. I feel for them. I reckon the reason these teams (esp smoed) aren’t as successful as they were is they don’t have the old Eddie or have a Kass there, that made them feel more accountable, there’s a lot of practise not in practise uniforms - though it seems like a small thing.. uniforms help you feel part of something (again in earlier years they’d all be in same or similar clothes for practise) & you all part of a team. Even things like travelling together and wearing nice clothes (i remember them saying that Eddie and orby like them dressed nicely when travelling as they representing the gym). Either they didn’t show it this season, but there doesn’t seem to be the same traditions and rituals they always showed every other year. They don’t seem to be focusing on kids working their way up the gym into these teams (other than one here n there or when they actually need someone to jump in last minute or want a roster change - then you see them go to kids that been training at CA) but instead they seem to fill the roster with who want that gold and then leave esp on smoed. They don’t seem to get many returners as years ago, kids that look at it as “this is my gym now & this is where I stay”. If you having to full an almost new team every year of course it’s going to take longer to get skills And increasing levels with kids not trained for that - of course they going to struggle. And then adding in another team? Although a great opportunity for those ageing out or can’t do the top level - but maybe they needed a new coach for that team… Plus their beautiful baby.. their focus is too split. For smoed esp there just doesn’t seem to be that team bonding that used to be there and consistency that was there in earlier years, and it was time for different person to lead that team and she was ready then Cami just waltzed back in and just took that back. That would have just pissed me if if that had been me! I think reason reckless seem to have had a slightly better year was they had so many smoed alumni who had that years of training under the old style. The coaches attention is too split, there seems to be lack of team bonding and constant roster changes so late kids can’t learn to bond in their stunt groups, the feeling of being a team isn’t there, lack of consistency, and lack of making their athletes feel accountable. The old orby and Eddie style of training had the kids feel like they were more invested and they felt more accountable as a team amd made them want ti come back year after year. But that’s just my opinion (Ive been in top teams - just not cheer) ans after binging the show to this point. I feel fir these teams having their dreams being taken away that’s out of their control… I also know what that feels like

Kinda seems like a scam to kick some flyers off the team for falling, but not others. It’s hard to buy that they’re doing what’s best for the team when the choices the coaches make aren’t even consistent.

When you’ve been on the team since 2016 with three or four mistakes vs when you’ve been on the team for 9 months and messed up three or four times. It’s a matter of whether the athlete can handle the pressure. One showed she could and came back stronger. Don’t forget she was in a car accident less than a week before NCA.

And her fall at worlds had to do with her health, she didn't know anything was wrong at that time, she just thought she was tired and could push through it.

I’m trying to decide if I should do online school next year and really focus on all star cheer because all star is my passion, I just do school cheer for fun and to support my school. I really want to put my all into all star cheer but I don’t know if I should do online school and not do school cheer next year because I love the school dances and my best friends are on the school cheer team with me. But if I do both again I won’t have as much time to spend on practicing for all star. I feel like if you split yourself into two things you will only be kind of good at them you know? I wish for the athletics/ competitive clubs, they would just make it a stagnant year meaning people that graduated during COVID could come back the next year despite having graduated (assuming they are able to and aren't busy with life things)- even though they wouldn't technically be under a school since they don't attend one. That way they could have the chance to attend Worlds or whatever top competition they would have gotten in to. And the lower classes would be stagnant too, like, if you were a junior post COVID then you could have one more year to kinda make up for it. But it would only last like a season or two to give everyone that chance. Either that, or the teams get to compete in the same competitions later on in the year without having to requalify (like with what colleges are doing where they plan to hold a physical graduation later in the year for seniors who graduated but weren't able to walk). Like, I'm part of my schools Quiz Bowl team and we weren't able to fundraise or really attend competitions before quarantine started (and I just graduated so I can't go next year either since its only if you are enrolled in a certain number of classes and I can't afford to just take a random class)- and I would really have wished for the ability to get some more time with my team instead of hoping to keep in contact.

I wonder if there can be a Worlds Showcase this season. Like, all the teams video their routine in a one take and then send it "somewhere" and then have like a live stream of all the routines just for this year. Yeah, the teams can shoot however many times they want but no editing. They send their best full out with their teams all dressed up etc. Then Worlds or IAASF or whoever can put together all the videos for each division and then stream each division at different times or turn it into like a one off mini series of every routine. It will be delayed of course and maybe their wont be any champions crowned (you could still probably have the routines judged though) but at least the athletes can show off their performances they worked on for close to a year.

@@marifranx Sorry, I meant when countries or states move out of the stricter lockdown rules. Like, here in NZ we might be able to reopen our gym in a week or two. If the Worlds Online Showcase was scheduled for July or even August, I think a lot of teams would be able to get their routines recorded and sent in. It's not perfect but it's something.

If every time someone makes a mistake or stuff doesn’t click and people start talking shit, then the team would be so toxic and negative and it really truthfully doesn’t matter if you have a team full of the best athletes in the world. If one or more is toxic and negative and brings that with them, then teams fall apart.
