I know, it's 23°C at my location near Newcastle in New South Wales which is where I live & we're forecasted to have a top of 26°C today then on Wednesday 31°C.followed by a cool & wet change with a top temperature in the mid to high teens during the day on Thursday then up until Friday,so I am making the most of that beautiful weather. It seems like the same deal on the south coast, there seems to be nothing interesting like tropical fruit & vegetables unless you grow it yourself,at Mullumbimby in New South Wales which is where my dads side of the family lives people grow cassava, bananas, papaya, etc,the climate is pretty similar to the Newcastles & Hunter regions, it's just that they have a different sort of environment to what our district seems to have. The answer is to create that environment & grow that stuff yourself like you manage to at Melbourne,I have noticed that Alyssa is having some trouble growing jackfruit trees there but she manages to grow mangoes there for example. You might be able to grow Cassava in Melbourne in a greenhouse when it's planted directly into the ground, even in my area one of the Fishers (George) used to grow their own burgundy grapes 🍇 then make their own wine in my town, some people in my area don't know that I even have him whose a Fisher whose now deceased !

You got me thinking of planting cassava in my greenhouse. Governments of every land are utterly shameful for not encouraging or teaching people to grow their own food. There's literally no local grown fruit and veg for sale by the road when driving from Melbourne to Cooktown.

I'm not sure what contamination you're referring to.

@@reallifefuntopia8273 just the PFAS issue from the military bases. Seems if you are visiting it is fine and I am sure the ocean is fine. It looks more like a potential longer term issue if you are exposed regularly. A lot of the local surrounding water ways and potentially ground water was contaminated and over sometime too.

@@reallifefuntopia8273 doing more reading it doesn't seem to be a big issue these days, the story has been around for some years and lots of testing done, just maybe some issues with some marine species and consumption.
