World Cup Italia 90 Gameplay Sega Genesis Mega Drive Uruguay v Spain

A video of me playing the Sega Genesis Mega Drive game World Cup Italia 90 (Also known as Sega Soccer). This was the very first football game I owned. If you want a challenge and own this game, try and win the world cup without losing a goal. I have done it with China, a little tricky. In this video - Uruguay v Spain (friendly) and the awesomeness of the music whenever you play as a South American team on the game =)

The sound of the guy shouting "GOAL" along with the music brings back so many memories. And the sound effect when you punt the ball, and do a slide tackle.. I sunk so many hours of my childhood into that game and loved every second.

I remember it took me so much time to just figure out the controls of the game, that the first 5 years that i owned my Genesis, i never won a single match, i didn't even know how to kick, then i figure out and started making goals, next thing i know, i was beating my friend for 28-1 because i let him score one time hahaha What a time to be alive that was.

@@greglinski2208 unfortunately, it did. I was like 6 and at that point i didn't like or tried to understand football. That changed when i started to like football, when i was 10, which helped me figure out how to play.

Cor the nostalgia of this game. Being 8 years old and always being Brazil and beating China 12 nil, always scoring the same way, passing diagonal into area and shoot across keeper, then with 1 min to go scoring 12 own goals just to do the penalties. They were the best bit about the game. Thanks for posting this vid, it’s made me happy.

Wow. I remember late night marathons where I used to play this with friends. My thumbs would be numb. I bought a Megadrive off ebay and I have this game. I lasted 2 minutes before it drove me crazy. Played Columns instead. Still, nice post.

I like to call this game brutal football/soccer as you can slide tackle someone as many times as you like and never get sent off. In fact there are no yellow cards, red cards or even the off side rule either.

this game is the reason why I was good at geography at school. Not joking. I played a lot with it (I was 4/5 years old) and it helped me to memorize the map of the world. thought I've never realized why the players look like pigeons from the top. I believe that arrow on the back of the player wasn't necessary. anyway, great game.

I use to call it "Tadpole football" when I was a kid. The way to win 30 nil is this... Long diagonal ball into the box from the halfway line at either side of the pitch.... then head it the opposite way toward the net. Works every time. So for example if you're on the right wing at the halfway line a long ball towards the left centre forward then head it back across goal to the right.

I owned this game (came with the Megadrive) the best things about the game was the box art. It was ridiculously difficult to score any other type of goal. When you look back no fouls, no free kicks/penalties unless you drew a game. This was state of the art graphics for its time, football games have come a long way. Lol

Best soccer videogame I have ever played. I was 6 in 1993 and I used to play with my grandad at the european version. So many nights I spent playing Brazil, though I didn't know why I had to pick up players (wasn't speaking english by this time :B)

As someone who's only played the PAL version, I have to say the NTSC's music sounds like it's on crack! :P Reminds me of the PAL version of Super Mario Bros. Just listen to it, the speed is insane.
