No the reigning champ doesn't automatically qualify

@@snowmansportsmedia Actually, they did automatically qualify up until 2002; automatic qualification for the reigning champions was scrapped from 2006 onwards. The reason why I asked was because I thought I was having a Mandela Effect, and also decided to check myself. Thanks anyway.👍

South America has 4 guaranteed slots out of 10 members -> 40%. Europe has 13 slots out of 55 members -> 23.6%. I don’t think the slot allocation is biased in favor of Europe.
