Cant help but feel this sort of integrated motor assist would be great on a rotary application. hear me out on this. but the rotary needs rpm to make power, but its torque band is relatively low and flat. so if you could supplement it with a motor generator set all of a sudden you dont need excessive boost levels.

This is crazy listening to him explain that the electric motor needs to be wound to match the battery voltage because the same basic principle applies to rc cars I used to build. The power upgrade for electric RC is a high voltage battery system and electric motor wound to match your voltage rating, I never custom wound motors but researched how because I needed to in order to get a motor correctly wound for my batteries voltage rating.

Glad you corrected yourself, motor= electric, engine= petrol(or diesel). Using the American generalization of calling fuel power engines, motors doesn’t work when you have both!

what will gain you the most lap time is not the top en hp but the low end torque the elec motor will give you while the engine is not at peak power, which is what i was hoping he was going to show in the dyno run so im a bit disappointed the dyno run only covered the top end

They got smart guys. Makes me think of how the new Honda Hybrid system they call it a CVTe, but really it's just a two speed trans with a single clutch. That alone negated a ton of the weight associated with the hybrid system. Just stupid Honda programmed their setup to be boring as shit and even when you hit the "sport" button nothing happens. They missed the boat on making a hybrid drivetrain that would actually make a car fun.

21:42 What if there was a big capacitor circuit that received the back fed regen energy, and then a resistor that leads to the battery? You could damp the high voltage spikes 🤷♂️
@toto296204 жыл бұрын
It's not the high voltage the problem it's the uge crurent rush that tend to damage électrodes inside the battery. If you want to know more about this topic look up for electrode celerity on google, li-ion battery are kinda weak on this point compared to lead acid for exemple, even tho they have a much higher energy density, it's a technologie limitation. So you will need a very high capacity capacitor or supercapacitor to accepte that kind of crurent and they are, for capacitor, way too small in term of energy density or, for supercapacitor, way too limited in term of voltage and would need a lot of space to accomodate for those high voltage. That's why you see them on boat or bus but rarely on cars it's a bit too limited in space.
@MrDannyd94 жыл бұрын
toto dona They could build a circuit that lessens the spike with this system, it doesn’t need to be fed entirely through the capacitor. However, I do see what you mean... a few big tantalum caps could be integrated to damp it, but it does seem like a half measure (based on envelope math). 🤔 I will look through my EE books for more inspiration! Thank you for the quick lesson Toto
