The analogue parts of the dials look good. The digital portion looks almost worthless, though. If they were going for a negative display, they should've made sure there was a lot more contrast.

@know-it-all King It does look cool, but for practicality purposes, I'd prefer the easier-to-read positive display. I've done the N to P conversion on my GW-B5600BB. That only took 10 minutes, and it's a much more useful watch.

Agreed. After seeing the photos before this, I was hoping that the light might be made a little better. If I have to have a negative display (and I do, because I love them!) I really want a light that makes the time pop. I love my CasiOak, but the light is worthless on it.

People still buy the non solar GM-6900 so there's that. Also, there had been too much metal mod kits for the 2100 so Casio though of jumping the gun.

@@franciscoarana3735 Every G-Shock ought to be Tough Solar. Maybe Casio should make non G-Shocks solar while they're at it. You know, the watch world would be significantly improved if there were more tough solar. Tough Solar should be liscenced out, you know, to spread the solar love. Citizen comes close but lacks the durability of Tough Solar. There just isn't anything remotely close on the market than Tough solar watches. Spending money on something that isn't a Tough Solar is just a flat-out bad investment. Besides, what's cooler than Tough Solar? That battery hard to find(?); well, not for a Tough Solar where it's primary power source is a giant ball of nuclear fission!

The red as it is just the dial popping is tasteful imo. A red strap would be too tacky. That's why the previous ones were cheaper. You have to be a special type of guy to wear an all red watch.

I feel like this is a bit of a missed opportunity. They’ll all sell out but I won’t be getting one. Still haven’t improved on the original. I’d only buy once it has solar, lumed indices, multiband/Bluetooth and a positive display. For now I’m happy to stick with my GWM5610.

That's why I held out on the CasiOak. I wanted the hype to die down a bit so the black one becomes readily available at decent prices again, but at the same time I had a feeling Casio was cooking something special. They are definitely interesting watches but the digital display looks tough to read. It’s kind of shoe horned into the dial and it doesn’t seem like it quite works. I like the watches but that digital display looks fairly useless.

I like the original. It will never get old. Not sure about those metal ones.. I think the trend will pass and they will be forgotten where the original will become classic. Tried wearing metal G-shock and it is just not for me, I no longer feel like I have a true g-shock on my hand - too heavy, too shinny. And those polished parts are annoying finger print magnets. I don't think those polished metal surfaces fit the theme of a g-shock very well.

I love the metal one, and the Casiooaks in general. Not having a second hand is a ocd thing for me, I can get over that though. They need to be tough solar though at the very least for me, when I can get a GW5610 with tough solar and multiband 6, solar is a bare minimum for me.

My favorite is the gray dial. But my gripe is that the case has too much polishing. If I purchased one I will definitely add some brushing to certain areas. Great video 👍🏻

For me, the silver dial would be the one I'd buy , if, I was a G-Shock guy. I'm just not though. I can see a solar option should be offered. The negative digi readout looks bad, the light should have illuminated the entire dial, imo.

The best news for me on this one is the dials. They look amazing. Also is it just me or does it look like gshock is trying to take on the traditional watch market? We might be seeing a dressy gshock sooner rather than later.
