Interesting observation about the boat, Lubin. An old book I have by a gun Tassie trout fisho mentioned the importance of a trout boat with a white hull claiming it didn't spook the trout due to the lack of shadow it created in contrast to darker coloured hulls which cast a big shadow in the shallows. He claimed that he could out fish others in darker coloured boats by at least 3-1 trout.

My favourite spot. I fish nymphs super slow retrieve there,on an intermediate line. Gets a bit busy at times.👏

Thanks for the video, quick question if I may. I've noticed in recent videos & instagram you've been switching between your Airflo 9' rod and your Primal 6wt when fishing for trout in lakes, What weight is the Airflo and what are the reasons you choose either rod? Cheers and thanks in advance

Thanks for watching mate! They’re both 6wts but the airflo is a 9ft and the primal is 10ft. My preference land based is the 9ft as I’m usually just fishing with a floating line. It’s so much nicer to cast than the 10ft rod. In the boat I always use the 10ft as you have so much more control over your flies, especially when fishing 3 of them. It’s also easier to cast a sinking line with when fishing streamers.

Hey Lubin great footage mate. I’ve never done that well on nymphs at Penstock. What variety of Diawl Bach works for you? There seems to be heaps of variations. Keep up the vids.

Hey mate, thanks very much for watching and apologies for only just seeing your comment! I think simple is better with nymphs for that style of fishing, I like a peacock body red rib diawl Bach, claret cruncher with an orange head, and claret spider as a starting point. I might change to a claret nymph or claret dabbler too.

You absolutely must! Season opens in August but I’d say from October until now is the best
