Jamie Laing has suffered from anxiety for over a decade, which led him to have his first panic attack at 21. Jamie says he would ‘panic about the panic’ and use alcohol to try and deal with it. He hopes to remove the stigma around mental health and wants to see more men opening up to each other.

Anxiety and stress is definitely real, mine was hightened the most at the end of uni during lockdown and my suseptability to stress and the workload I had with no outlet led to huge burnout that i still suffer from to this day. It can be paralysing having severe issues like anxiety and depression. At the time leading up to it I knew something was wrong but had no awareness of who to speak to. Had I done sooner I may not have had the extent of damage I have now. So if you feel down or something has happened that’s made you sad please talk to someone a friend or teacher cos that can change ur life and perspective on ur situation without beating urself up. This is particularly important in young people as this shape’s a life. I had huge panic attacks when I got home from uni and I can relate to Jamie it felt like I was on my last breaths fighting for my life - since then I got help and treatment , talking therapies etc and my life has changed for the better and I have a hold on my anxiety and depression even to the point I can open up about it and not feel shame it is not harmful they are just emotions that we all go through just some more than others

Don’t pretend to care about men’s mental health! It’s been one of the biggest killers of men in the past 25 years. But you wouldn’t know this. Lucky even if you mention this once a year!

Open up... Go see your GP... Get told to get knotted. Why even bother.

The thing i hate is having to tell the rude receptionist whats wrong with you for them to pass it on to the doctor. The receptionists are horrible and it makes me feel uncomfortable telling someone other than a doctor what my problem is. So i dont even bother

Great that Jamie stated that everyone needs to talk about mental health and not most particular because you are a man. No matter who you are. Men are adults and should,'nt need too be treated like children.

First it would be good to ask few simple questions like what drugs were you using in your 20s. People are so unaware that many choices they made when they were younger will have an impact on them later in life. The other thing is he talks about being ashamed of talking about his emotions, that tells you he has had a lot of suppressed emotions. Of course it will cause anxiety or panic attacks. Anxiety is basically body telling you that something needs to change. First step to living a peaceful life is start being authentic with yourself, so you can be authentic with others. Wearing too many masks is tiring. Nobody can do it for too long.

Not everyone has that luxury, maybe if you're a multi millionaire celeb people will cut you some slack, the average guy trying to survive won't get much help. And the help that is available is pretty poor.

Too much attention is going to these mental health problems. You never hear people living in war zones or in third world countries complaining about mental health issues. We created a generation of people who think life is always gonna be easy. Well it isn't. Get over it..

maybe cos they have no time to think or go thru the process of recovery, the culture is different in other countries and/or they simply dont recognise it. People here with mental health issues have passed down or first hand traumas like suicide etc or abuse so that is something that is hard to just ‘get over’. You sound very closed minded or clearly havent experienced any issues urself so u cant relate so I suggest dont talk about something u know nothing about 😊
