In my case luck. My Mom was born in Portugal and had me in South Africa. Can get 2 passports right there. Then there is my Grandad (Mom's side) who is Spanish. Can get Spanish passport if I wanted to as well. My Great-Grandfather was Irish, and he passed it onto my Grandma from my Dad's side who gave it to him. So can get Irish citizenship as well if I wanted to. Lastly, (This ones is in relation to money like you said) my Father got Dutch citizenship by Investment. I could have gotten a Canadian passport as well at one point but the 2008 crash happened and our situations changed. Bottom line is I was LUCKY!!! I fully acknowledge that. What I am saying is that fate can either be kind to you, or cruel to you. I could be born to parents from Syria with one of the weakest passports in the world for all I know, yet I was one of the lucky few to have been born to a diverse family that has access to the whole world. Money is not the sole factor is what I am saying.

Quality, not quantity. Or what destinations you need. When I compare the difference from Germany (188) to Japan (189). Japan: China, India, Myanmar, Azerbaijan Germany: Burkina Faso, Gambia, Brasil So the question is: what is more valuable, China and India or Brasil? For China it isn't this hard to get a visa. I knew done people who went there. I think it isn't hard for Japanese to get one either. It makes no real difference.

@@helloweener2007 In my case, I prefer Brazil because I'm brazilian XD But talking serious now, I agree that the difference between german and japanese passport in general is very low. For my EU friends: If you ever need help from an embassy in a foreign country you should know that every embassy of every EU nation is obliged to help you as EU citizen if your country has no embassy of its own in that country or if your own embassy is to far from your location or can’t help you for any other reason! Even non-Eu family members can get help to a certain extent. Possible reasons for consular protection might be need for an emergency travel document (for example in case of loss or theft of passport) arrest or detention being a victim of crime serious accident or serious illness relief and repatriation in case of an emergency death The right to consular protection for unrepresented EU citizens is set out in Articles 20(2)c and 23 of the EU Treaty and Article 46 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
