*NEVER WORK for a straight shot ever again!! It’s the worst thing you can do for your golf swing*
@robertbain507612 күн бұрын
Setting up for a slight draw with driver and a slight fade with irons gives me a more predictable shot shape. Drawing a driver helps distance overall, while a slight fade with irons helps my distance control. My misses now tend to be in one direction only which is hugely helpful. I sort of stumbled on this years ago and it is nice to see it validated!

I have been doing this since watching another of your videos last year. It has really helped me. Pulling my right foot back a little on the drives, and my left foot back a little on my hybrids and fairway woods has made me far more consistent in my hits.

Great video! So looking at my whole set of clubs, I now hit my iron & hybrids out of an open stance and my driver and fairway woods out of a closed stance. What a difference it has made in my contact, consistency, and accuracy. Thanks!

The closed club face is something that has definitely helped me straighten my driver. I now take my grip with the club head slightly closed then set my stance. Hit 5 straight drives in a row on the course. Not seen my driver so straight for a v long time

Interesting. I am a 3 handicap and changed my left foot open to promote hips comfortably opening this year. I also started lifting uo my left heel in backswing. Result was little more power. I stopped the changes as my sequence is inconsistant and I need consistency, so I like to aim and align booth feet with just a little open left foot and I no longer lift lefy heel.

Nice to see somebody that knows what their talking about, saying this. I just started golfing again after a decade away. Started at the range about 2 months ago and played to rounds over the last two weeks. Anyway I had to relearn the driver and started doing this own my own, cause I felt more comfortable standing that way and noticed I was hitting driver better than I ever did. Haven’t tried what you showed with irons, but it makes perfect sense, just like I figured out with driver. I’ll have to try it with my irons, to see if it helps me gain yardage

Excellent points Alex about Pete Cowens's recommendation for amateurs should set up with a slightly closed stance. Depending on the hole configuration, I do set up with a slightly closed stance and I do use an in to out swing. If there are trees or obstructions on my right however, I tend to alter my stance and swing somewhat. Well Done Alex!

I want to thank you for all of your VERY helpful videos. I have been practicing a lot without hitting balls using your techniques and yesterday I was able to finally get out to the range to hit balls. I had to hit off the mat because we've had too much rain of late and I never liked hitting off mats, I never seemed to hit the ball well. Yesterday I was amazed at how much better I was striking the ball. First time out wasn't perfect however, I noticed a HUGE difference compared to years past. I am frankly surprised I did as well as I did in the past given how shabby my swing was. MANY Thanks!

Wow... I just practicing this at range today. When i open my stance a little bit, i feel like I'm aiming a little bit easier to the target. Just like when chipping. For the club face that aiming a little left i compensated with pulling the handle to the left (closing the club face) and the club face square again.

By the way, I was doing this yesterday out at the range. I think you mentioned this in the past. It made a tremendous difference in the difference in my follow through. Today I woke up a little sore but that is because I never ever followed through correctly. I am so excited about getting out on the course this year with my buddies and kicking their butts. Then I'll tell them to watch your videos....at the end of the year😁

I STRUGGLE when have a dogleg L and I hit ball to middle/ right part of fairway and have to hit it back to the left. It feels like I’m hitting ACROSS my body and often I flare it R or hit a push slice. I’m thinking it’s alignment issue but don’t know how to fix/help myself. Brian in Pennsylvania USA

In the back of Ben Hogan's Five Lessons book he has an illustration of how he positions his feet at address. He pulls his right foot back with the driver like you've shown in this video, then progressively moves it forward with all his other clubs. Alex, I'm sure you've seen this illustration, and I'm also sure Pete Cowen has seen it.
