I see comments of the same strategy that was offered 30 or 40 years ago. These comments were made in books and VHs tapes, which are not that popular with the masses today. Kudos to the younger folks who reintroduce tips which have worked for many years and continue to work. New faces, new equipment, and new energy, keeps the game of golf fresh. I'm 75 and I love this new energy.

Switched to Venetos approach a year ago and it improved my ball-striking and consistency manyfold, after struggling for years and only very slowly improving. And it also has the tremendous benefit, at least for a 60 year old, that by not having to twist your spine in the backswing to get proper turn for the sholders and upper body, that is so much easier on the body. Now I can hit a couple of hundred balls a day, day after day and just be nicely tired, while before I always risked pretty bad, back, hips or shoulder blade pain, even if playing just 9 holes. Glad Alex has seen the light, since I like his instructions. 🙂

On the course today in Franklin, Tennessee. I used this new set up on the driving range. It Felt weird, it looked weird, I’m sure. But your Lesson actually worked for me today. I was hitting my drives 40+ yards longer. Thanks you so much, Alex!!! Stan the Man…

Hey Alex. GREAT tip!!! Feels like my arms automatically get into the right positions at the backswing. Just curious, will this work for all other clubs? If yes can you please advise of the process and or do another video showing how it works as well. Im golfing Friday morning and I am going to try the driver tip.. Fingers crossed!!! Thanks!

Alex! This looked incredibly goofy, but my driver has been so bad, I gave it a try. I moved all the way to the end of the range incase the ball shot out sideways. But to my pleasant surprise, the ball flew straight down the range 10 to 20 yards farther than ever. Now I'm trying to figure out how I take it to the course and have the confidence to do it in front of my mates. I guess I let the results do the talking...

Not this video... But I followed his technique for pitching and I literally hit the flag pole 3 out of 7 pitches on my next practice before playing. And now I notice a big difference in my game!!! I have total confidence around the green. Missed hits are down to 1 out 12 instead of 50/50.

I took some lessons years ago, and the pro literally had me face completely away from the target with my feet pointed 180° backwards, and had me swing easy that way, just to teach me what it feels like to swing inside out and hit a draw. Amazingly, I didn't kill myself, and I hit a draw. Your drill isn't nearly as weird as that was. I will have to try it in my next driving range session. Hell, if it works, I won't be too embarrassed to use it on the course.

I'm 75 and have been wildly inconsistent with golf all my life. I have the usual problem, always coming over the top. The past few years I've been getting video of my practice and have managed to reduce the amount of over the top, but can never eliminate it. The most frustrating part is that I can swing inside-to-out 1000 times out of 1000 on practice swings, but as soon as I put a ball down, my upper body wants to beat my lower body and I come over the top. I've tried this method at the range and it works great!! But when I try to go back to a normal stance, I can't do it. So, my question is: is there anything wrong with just using this method all the time? I couldn't care less if it looks weird, I just want to hit straight shots!

One thing a pro said to me once to straighten up my shots and stop pulling left is to downswing the club along a line that would equate to 1 o'clock (if 12 o'clock is straight down the middle). Is this just another way of achieving the same thing?

I kid you not Alex I know a Guy that swings almost that way ALL of the time. I thought it was because of his Baseball background. He's in his 70's and knocks The CRAP Out of the Ball. He's only about 5 ft 6. So it's definitely worth trying. Thanks for Sharing

I really struggle with the "let it drop" portion of most explanations like this. As with the original question I am always looking for what is the right "ENGINE" of the swing. Whether my body turn or the pull down of the club, I can not grasp the let it fall, then what?

So I had about 2.5 hours before sunset. Decided to play from the senior tees (5,600 yds, 65.6 rating with 111 slope Par 71). I used this driver tip/trick and was hammering the ball so solidly! Had two double bogeys and still shot a 69!!!!! Thanks for the tip, I plan to ride this driver hack for as long as it is working!

Nothing new about that. It's the swing that Jim Venetos has been teaching for over 30 years. Closed stance, weight on front foot gives a strong lead side and prevents over the top. At least when you do a video about another teaching pro's swing method have the courtesy to acknowledge that pro instead of giving the impression that this was something that you came up with.
