The White Star service is a relic of the White Star Line, the direct competitor of the Cunard Line in the years 1900 until 1927 when the two companies merged.

Tyler Frederick Technically, the name was Cunard-White Star until fairly recently since they merged in the 1930s.

Technically speaking, Cunard merged with the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company (the proper name of the White Star Line), and was known for many years as the Cunard White Star Line. Today, now a subsidiary of American cruise interests, the company, known once again as just Cunard, maintains the White Star heritage with the White Star Service brand, which appropriately displays the old White Star pennant as the logo on all service oriented uniforms.

@@giovannirastrelli9821 To honor the line's heritage, which is far from dubious. They certainly promote the old Queen Mary, which is small comfort I'm sure to the 337 men of HMS Curacoa which she sliced in two.

In the end though, sort of beside the point as I don't really have any issue with Cunard, how they do their business, nor how they choose to honor their heritage. I'm an ocean liner buff, not a social justice fanatic. You seem to have an issue, though, otherwise why did you ask me about it and then get all offended when I gave you an answer? If you've got nothing better to do than sling insults at an 8 year old KZbin post, I think you need to find a more productive use for your time.

@@giovannirastrelli9821 The White Star Line was far more than Titanic. Plus, the Cunard had their fair share of horrific disasters as well (Lusitania, Lancastria, both Laconias, etc.)

I will Sail on all 3 Queens someday. Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, & Queen Elizabeth, which I had the pleasure of seeing her in Long beach, California. I almost died a happy man. I am going to college in January, & upon my graduration, I am joining Cunard.

RMS Titanic technically has no real owner as such, since she in in international waters, although the current salvor-in-possession of the wreck, RMS Titanic Inc., has the exclusive right to remove artifacts from the site according to international salvage laws. Cunard has no vested interest in her at the present time, and never has owned her, although at one time the RMS Olympic, Titanic's sister, was on the fleet roster along with many other ex White Star ships

@@dezboss Early 1930s. The British government agreed to lend Cunard the money to finish Queen Mary which had been languishing in Scotland, half built, as a result of the great depression. One of the stipulations of the loan was that Cunard and White Star merge.

since CUNARD bought WHITE STAR LINE in the 1930's, doesn't that make you guys the owners of the RMS TITANIC and such other WHITE STAR liners? same thing with the LUSITANIA and MAURITANIA, the two fastest liners in 1912. but those ships are long gone. same story with the CARPATHIA, the rescue ship of the TITANIC survivors.

Who allows these videos to "sell" the Cunard Experience? Cause, news flash - it ain't workin'! LOL Seriously ... this video is clearly trying to appeal to an older crowd - the music, the tone, the wording - might as well call it "Senior Citizen City" .... Cunard should try to be more appealing to a wider set of passengers ... I have always loved ocean liners but, I'd be scared to sail on a Cunard Vessel in fear of being BORED to death! I am not asking for a tacky Carnival cruise (Though Carnival DOES own Cunard) but .. make these ships more appealing to a younger set. This 8min 40 second video bored me, how could I possibly embark on a 5 day transatlantic ? (And I have done Transatlantics 3 times and loved them - on other lines)

Christopher Lucki that’s ok stick with your own age group. You identified you don’t want to travel Carnival which has an appeal to a different age cohort. Each to their own and in twenty years you may like to sail on the Queens for a more sedate cruise. I can say I would have said exactly the same as you twenty years ago but now I am older appreciate the gentility of the Queens

The ships are nice. But beware lots of people have turned up missing at sea on cruise lines of late. The ships are registered in Bahamas so their police force has to investigate the crime. The last one that made the news it was said the investigator flew in stayed on the ship 1 hour interviewed one person and left the ship. Have fun but beware you cannot call 911 on a ship.
