I’m 38 years old and man that made me feel like I was 12 all over again watching the vivarin car in 95 !!!! Blaney showin em he can still get the job done way to go Dave !!!!!

Live by the cushion, die by the cushion. Sheldon had them covered. I can't believe that right rear tire held up as long as it did. Thrilling finish. The fans were going nuts. Greatest show on dirt!
@teambeaton3 жыл бұрын
Watching Jr. tag that wall EVERY time was getting so frustrating cause he clearly had the fastest car. I don't know either how that tire had air left in it to even finish. Happy for Blaney though, he too was really fast, score one for the old guys haha!
@jimjob283 жыл бұрын
@@teambeaton My family was sitting in turn 2, and one of Sheldon's crew was sitting right behind my wife. I thought the poor man was going to have a coronary. The kid put on a hell of a show and was exciting to watch; I'm just happy he finished. Sheldon is probably my favorite driver out of the current WoO lineup, but I can't say that I wasn't rooting for Dave. I was at Sharon when he won his first 410 sprint race in the early 80's, so this race was very special for us long time fans.
@teambeaton3 жыл бұрын
@@jimjob28 Haha, I can only imagine his crew member watching that. I was gasping a little every time he hit it, can't believe he kept saving it. Awesome story, thanks for sharing. I met Dave at Eldora in 86 at the Kings Royal, my guy Wolfgang won. Love this racing, was at Eldora again in 87 for Haud's KR, and in 89 at the Knoxville Nationals. Also saw a bunch of races in that era at Rolling Wheels, Canandaigua, Fremont, and Ransomville. Was there a hole in the track out of 2 that Sheldon couldn't avoid, or was the cushion going away and he had no choice but to ride it high and so close to the wall?
@jimjob283 жыл бұрын
@@teambeaton Was '86 the year Wolfgang was driving the Weikert's car? He was an absolute monster in that thing. I need to get over to Eldora some time.
@teambeaton3 жыл бұрын
@@jimjob28 Yes sir, that's the one. I had to go back and check and I have my dates wrong by a year though. Wolf won the KR in 85 with Swindell 2nd, and in 87 it was Haud then Wolf. He was so smooth in that Weikert car. It seemed like the slicker it got, the faster he went. If memory serves he won something like 50 races that year. His book is a really good read if you like Outlaws history. Eldora is scary fast, you really don't hear them let off the throttle at all and I always get nervous when they have a two wide restart. I'm bringing my kids there one of these days.

I’ve seen him do this several times before. Take a big lead and keep riding and getting loose in the cushion and hitting the wall. Just when you think he has it figured out, he bangs right back into it - again and again. 🤷🏽♂️
