The clay pigeon titles can be dated around 1974-75, because the football footage comes from the Liverpool v Red Star Belgrade match in november 1973.

Should have never been axed as millions of people still tuned in every week. But I suppose ITV had to pay all for all their reality shows and cookery programmes somehow...

Greig Dyke is the Villain here,(pre Sky years)when he started in 1984 at LWT,which had put together World of Sport' for the network since '68. He thought that despite its popularity ,it was " shabby , low rent" & the 1980s viewer wasn't satisfied with watching recorded highlights- ( which wasn't strictly true as the Horse racing & some events within the Saturday programme were live , or probably recorded earlier in the day. He ditched a few popular shows in his days at LWT. He was all for a ' unified ITV ' come what may & this is where nearly 40 years later ITV are struggling for viewers.

Is there a full version of these classic "clay pigeon" titles, without a voice-over?

Far better and entertaining. Sadly, though... Grandstand ended up lasting longer.

This was the early clay Pigeon titles which were not shown in the final ever edition in 1985
